Construction Coordinator/Field Engineer

Our client is a leader in energy & utility construction services.
They are looking for a Field Engineer/Construction Coordinator for a major project in Bakersfield, CA
 
The Field Engineer/Construction Coordinator will report directly to the Construction Project Manager.  They will help execute and report on the mechanical and civil construction, safety, Q/C, and all around trouble shooting on the construction site. He/she is primarily responsible for Quantity surveys, RFI's, Change orders but other duties will be assigned.. Must be computer savvy, word, excel.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supervise all on-site construction, including scheduling subcontractors, resolving day-to-day problems on the job site, and inspecting all work during construction to ensure compliance with the plans and specifications
  • Meets requirements for function, quality, on-time completion and budget. Coordinate work activities with material requirements with the overall project schedule.

  • Responsible for the administration and supervision of construction activities.
  • The environment in which these responsibilities are performed include both field and office work areas, however the position is predominantly a field-oriented position.
  • Measure progress, cost and quality of construction projects, correct deficiencies when necessary.
  • Apply safety programs to personnel working within the control of the project.
  • Audit (field and office) compliance with the safety programs, including contractor orientation.
  • Conduct investigations of safety incidents and report findings, apply corrective action were appropriate.
  • Review and approve daily work plans.
  • Assist in development of a contracting strategy for construction work
  • Measure contractor compliance to contract terms, correct deficiencies when necessary.
  • Provide periodic updates and other information to the PM
  • Lead safety meetings and provide feedback on management reviews on near misses and incidents
 
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • 3 years with supervisory experience
  • High School diploma or GED
  • 5 years of direct experience heavy industrial construction
  • Ability to read and understand the scope of work as defined by construction drawings, specifications, and contracts
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
 
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Basic Scheduling ability P6 or Microsoft Project is a plus but not required
  • Experience with Biosolids/Biomass or Biofuels
  • Experience with Brownfield and Greenfield construction 
  • Experience with discovery and demolition
  • Experience with concrete & foundation work preferred
  • Possess a solid understanding of engineering standards, common practices, industry codes, recommendations and standards; and government codes, laws, regulations and rules

Pay range: $55-$65 per hour (depending on experience)
Per diem is offered.
