Contract Duration: 6 Month contract
Pay Range: $80.00- $95.00 per hour
Job Duties:
- Responsible for safety of all construction activities working with the project manager and the project HSE manager. Implements projects Safety Management System; delivers on pre-agreed site safety and environmental targets for Company and Contractor staff.
- Authors, participates in, and approves the Construction Execution Plan, which details the contracting strategy, management systems and staffing through which the 'build' will be completed.
- Influences design engineering work to ensure accessibility for work inside battery limits (ISBL) and outside battery limits (OSBL).
- Ensures temporary construction facilities are fit for purpose and arranged for the most efficient movement of craft and materials possible.
- Helps recruit and directly manages the project's on-site Construction Management Team (CMT). This includes discipline construction supervision in civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, piping, coatings, insulation, fireproofing, pre-commissioning, rigging / heavy lifting disciplines.
- Accountable for logistics and human resource solutions associated with mobilizing site construction teams, including offices, information technology, logistics, and transportation.
- Participates in pre-qualification and bid clarification process for candidate fabricators/contractors and major package assembly sites.
- Conducts construction kick-off meetings and regular construction progress meetings both with team members and with the various constructors during construction execution.
- Participates in bid evaluation work for primary construction contracts, and off-site fabrication facilities.
- Collaborates with project's QA manager to ensure site QA / QC management systems are fit for purpose and supports the implementation of same.
- Reviews and approves contractor schedules and planning baseline and ensure construction progress on plan. Ensures veracity of progress statements. Specifies and negotiates progress recovery measures with contractor as appropriate.
- Participates in creation and approval of the CMT staffing budget.
- Actively manage relationships with key stakeholders within the refinery.
- Ensures construction work planning is robust and timely. Ensures that the various crafts construction work packages are in use and drive construction per plan.
- Learns and follows Labor Agreements between the refinery and Building Trades and maintains a positive relationship with both to ensure the most productive working environment possible.
Qualifications:
- 10 or more years of construction management experience in refining or chemicals
- 10 years as a construction manager for large/mega domestic project in the petroleum/chemical industry
- Team player with proven management and staff leadership skills
- Thoroughly familiar with Microsoft Office computer tools e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Working knowledge of all relevant engineering & construction codes and standards
- Demonstrated ability to develop reports for and presentations to management.
Additional Information:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management or equivalent training or education is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience and track record of productive relationship with Building trade representatives working in concert with owner's leadership.
