  • Evaluate and prioritize facility maintenance requirements and coordinate with Operations to schedule downtime activities and other work in the plant, including preparation, planning support, and allocation.
  • Review notifications and work orders to see that they have been properly filled out, discuss the details with the originating department, ensure that the work scope is clearly described and properly authorized. Make certain the priority or completion data realistically provides the maximum practical lead time.
  • Improve maintenance effectiveness by eliminating delays and obstacles through proper planning preparation and scheduling.
  • Analyze and plan all maintenance work orders received into basic job steps, determines the sequence relative to each job step, and what parts, equipment, materials, special tools, skills, and personnel are required for each step. Obtains drawings and sketches as needed.
  • Maintain storeroom inventory (i.e., cycle counts), MOC, shipping or receiving parts, and kitting all jobs.
  • Troubleshoot and assist hands-on with equipment issues
  • Maintains communications with Plant Engineer concerning areas for which he is responsible, consulting equipment to be maintained. Make recommendations to Production concerning maintenance needs and in collaboration with them, prepares a weekly forecast of major jobs expected to be scheduled for the following week.  Also solicits work orders for minor jobs in order to avoid major repairs at a later date.
  • Maintains a backlog of work orders that can be scheduled, which require equipment to be shut down.
  • Develops a file of standard plans for regularly recurring repair jobs based on historical experience, to simplify the planning process.
  • Maintains a file for every area critical process equipment. Each folder contains all information relevant to that piece of equipment such as equipment data, closed out work orders, PM checklists, drawings, correspondence, failure reports, modifications, and purchase requisitions.
  • Maintains documentation, ensures compliance to guarding, alignment, balancing and lubrication standards.
  • Perform a review of Lock-Out-Tag-Out procedures assigned to Maintenance personnel at least annually and make changes and improvements as necessary.

 

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum of ten years of related industrial maintenance experience and/or training required. A combination of education and experience will be considered. 
  • Experience working in SAP or other Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) preferred.
  • Individual must be able to communicate effectively through written instructions.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Inventory software; Manufacturing software; Order processing systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. Individual must be able to operate a forklift.

 

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • This job is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions as well as exterior working heights up to 60 feet. While performing the duties of this job the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, odors, and airborne particles.  The employee will be occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, heat, vibration, and confined spaces.  The employee may be occasionally exposed to acidic or caustic chemicals and solvents.  A respirator may be required at times. 
  • The employee must be able to position self to inspect, maintain, and/or repair machinery and equipment on plant floor, as well as railcars. This may require climbing stairs/ladders, bending, kneeling, crawling, and/or stooping.
  • The noise level in the work environment varies, hearing protection is provided.
