Project Engineer- Permanent Position

The Mechanical Project Engineer provides effective support to the  site operation from the tactical point of view, with aspects related to the mechanical engineering field: design, stress evaluations, pressure vessels, rotating equipment troubleshooting, as well as the progression of small OPEX projects and  Management of Change using mechanical engineering expertise and appropriate resources to ensure work is completed safely, in a cost-effective manner, within budget and schedule and to the standards required.

The Mechanical Project Engineer will focus on improving the life-cycle costs by using evaluating emerging technologies and technical solutions for mechanical equipment. They will perform mechanical engineering tasks including engineering analysis, drawings, system and functional requirements, hazard analysis and vendor performance specifications. They will be asked to collaborate with multiple partners from all levels of the organization to determine data and requirement inspired technical solutions.

They will ensure conformance with set standards for quality, integrity, safety and regulatory compliance of projects, standards, procedures and relevant documentation relating to the USA facilities.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensures that all mechanical/piping and related tactical issues such as small modifications, troubleshooting and OPEX projects that arise at the Geismar facility are evaluated from the technical / mechanical engineering perspective.
Ensures that all mechanical/piping project functions are integrated effectively across all relevant work groups.
Develops scopes of work for mechanical/piping OPEX modifications, following the global Management of Change (MOC) process.
Effective collaboration with the maintenance department on the troubleshooting, assessment, evaluation, inspection and recommended solutions related to static and rotating equipment and mechanical related issues in general.
Provides effective mechanical/piping engineering services.
Contributes to the design approval process on assigned OPEX projects and small modifications to ensure input is obtained from the appropriate disciplines and that changes are made to the design as required.
Participates when required as Quality Assurance checkers on engineering design packages supporting the Projects and Engineering organization in technical for compliance with statutory requirements, appropriate standards and procedures.
Ensures that appropriate hazard and risk reviews are conducted and that all issues identified are actioned. Participate as a Mechanical Engineer SME during HAZOPs and similar risk assessments, when required.
Ensures appropriate reliability reviews are undertaken on project designs.
Support site project leads as Mechanical Engineer stakeholder when required.
Helps to ensure that the systems to maintain and store mechanical/piping drawings by the drawing office are in compliance with the procedures and standards.
Supports plant Operations, Maintenance and other stakeholders with mechanical engineering services requests related to safety and reliability vulnerabilities in the plant. These may be identified through various work processes including work orders, incident investigations or technical service requests.
Utilizes appropriate codes, standards, specifications, calculations methods and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) as required for engineering design.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution required.
Minimum of 5-10 years experience in a Mechanical Engineering role.
Understanding of mechanical/piping engineering and design in a petrochemical environment.
Knowledge of the Oil and Gas, Refining and/or Petrochemical industry.
