Operations Superintendent - Geismar, LA
Overview:
Support the Operations Manager through leadership of the Geismar daylight Operations activities to ensure safe, reliable and environmentally compliant production, efficiency, product quality and delivery objectives are met cost effectively. Provides leadership and direction to Operations daylight resources in coordination of maintenance and project activities, training and development, Turnaround, Shipping, and management of Global Operations and other standards required for compliance with the Global Integrated Management System for the Operations team. 

Responsibilities:
  • Leads the Operations department in the safe, environmentally compliant and efficient operation of the Geismar plant.
  • Leads the Operations department resources to meet targeted production volumes through adequate maintenance and project management.
  • Ensures an adequate process exists and is utilized for daily work planning with the maintenance team and other stakeholders.
  • Ensures department implementation and compliance with all global policies, standards and procedures.
  • Supports Operations annual budgeting process.
  • Provides Operations department functional oversight in the absence of Operations Manager.
  • Provides technical input and recommendations to support Operations, Finance and other relevant departments in relation to gas utilization planning.
  • Coordinates production planning and product custody transfer.
  • Works with the Technical team to manage recommended operating parameters based on plant conditions.
  • Supports and contributes to the mission, vision and core principles of Leadership.
  • Conducts personal and company affairs in an ethical, professional and trustworthy manner.
  • Ensures the performance management system is competently and fairly applied to all direct reports and works with the Production Supervisory staff in the application of the system for indirect reports.
  • Leads a performance culture through continuous performance feedback, employee training and development, and succession and retention planning.
  • Develops the Operations daylight team in maintaining a high-performance team standard across our production facilities.
  • Supports operational planning and execution of turnaround activities through allocation and guidance of Operations resources as needed.
  • Develops Impact and Development goals for the Operations daylight resources.
  • Contributes to the organizational vision of Global Methanol Leadership and as a team member demonstrates the core values of integrity, trust, respect and professionalism.
  • Conducts all business in a manner which supports the Responsible Care® ethic.
  • Leads by example the Responsible Care® ethic in personal and professional daily life.
  • Ensures compliance with OSHA, PSM, Responsible Care® and ISO requirements.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, or other related field; OR equivalent related work experience/combined education with a strong Operations background.
  • Minimum 10 years experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in an Operations leadership role.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in developing teams.
  • Competence in all common computer applications.
  • Technically competent with good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrates productive work habits through efficient use of time and resources.
  • Delivers work consistently in a timely manner and to the appropriate standard
