 PTS Advance has an immediate need for a seasoned Rotating Equipment Engineer in Rodeo, California.  This is a long term contract position.  All candidates considered. Per diem paid. 

The Rotating Equipment Reliability Engineer analyzes facilities, equipment histories, and trends; recommends and implements procedures, strategies, equipment or designs that will eliminate defects and improve rotating equipment operation at San Francisco Rodeo Refinery in adherence to established company guidelines, policies, procedures and applicable government regulations. The Engineer also coordinates Reliability program improvements and metrics reporting, and performs small project engineering in support of site maintenance activities.  
 
Responsibilities May Include
 
  • Acts as technical advisor to Maintenance and Operations
  • Performs and documents engineering review of repairs to rotating equipment
  • Analyzes equipment using condition monitoring technologies
  • Performs root-cause failure analyses, and implements corrective actions in order to eliminate defects
  • Defines appropriate preventive and corrective maintenance repair scopes for rotating equipment, for both daily and turnaround maintenance
  • Recommends appropriate spare part items and levels
  • Establishes and implements quality control procedures for inspecting, repairing and documenting repairs to process equipment
  • Initiates project proposals, performs engineering design, planning and maintains controls for reliability improvement projects
  • Performs Management of Change engineering review and documentation
  • Coordinates equipment repair history, cost, Lost Profit Opportunity, and corrective action data collection, and analyzes this data in order to provide Reliability program metric reports
  • Develops all mechanical design work for small engineering projects in support of maintenance work
  • Develops Bid Requests, evaluates proposals, prepares cost estimates and business justification for reliability improvement and maintenance projects 
  • Conducts safety audits of refinery facilities and recommends changes to prevent damage
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable environmental and safety regulations
  • Assembles and writes procedures and training materials; conducts training classes when appropriate to improve Craft and Operator knowledge
This position requires technical leadership, as the engineer is expected to develop pro-active solutions to problems that develop with critical rotating equipment.
  
 
Position Requirements
 
Basic/Required:
  • Legally authorized to work in the posting country 
  • 6 or more years of experience in an engineering role associated with industrial mechanical equipment 
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering 
  • Proficient in speaking, reading and writing English
  • Willing and able to perform/comply, with or without a reasonable accommodation, with the following: 
    1. Work overtime, including holidays and weekends
    2. Lift up to 50 pounds
    3. Work at elevated heights or in confined spaces
    4. Work around chemicals, including acids/bases
    5. Work around petroleum products that are under high pressure and heat
    6. Work near large, hot, high-speed machines
    7. Climb up to 200 feet in height; work at elevated heights
    8. Wear fire retardant clothing and other required personal protective equipment (such as steel-toed shoes, ear/eye protection)
    9. Maintain your face daily so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly (some examples include being free of facial hair and/or clean shaven)
    10. Satisfy the physical requirements of the position which includes, but is not limited to, the ability to lift, climb, walk, kneel, and squat on a regular basis

Preferred:
  • 3 or more years of experience in the predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance of mechanical process equipment
  • 3 or more years of experience working in a manufacturing and/or petrochemical facility
  • Working knowledge of industrial standards and practices (ASME, API, ANSI, and ASTM)
  • Demonstrated proficiency with the application of Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and condition monitoring tools
  • Demonstrated effective communication and leadership skills 
  • Proficient with basic vibration analysis skills and a vibration analysis software tool
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
