Position: Senior Project Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee assigned capital projects, including both standalone projects and projects within plant outages. This includes managing engineering, design, and construction resources.
  • Develop estimates, funding documents, schedules, and ongoing forecasts for plant-implemented projects using SAP.
  • Ensure that all projects undergo adequate process hazard reviews and operational readiness inspections (ORIs), and ensure timely completion of all recommended actions.
  • Ensure strict adherence to inherent process safety principles in all project designs.
  • Provide field supervision and support during the execution of projects.
  • Take the lead in promoting and maintaining project safety, including conducting Safety Kickoff Meetings with contractors and the operations team, communicating safety goals of zero recordables and zero first aids, and diligently completing required safety documentation such as short-term contractor BSP forms and JSA reviews.
  • Actively participate in the Safe Work Permit issuance process, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
  • Lead daily morning safety/toolbox meetings with all crafts involved in the project.
  • Immediately report all incidents to the appropriate channels.
  • Ensure that all contractors involved in project execution have submitted Emergency Action Plans prior to mobilization.
  • Contribute to Safety Sampling and Critical Safety Audits during plant outages.
  • Attend and actively contribute to monthly Safety Meetings.

  • Be prepared for travel within the West Region, which may range from 25-45% depending on project requirements.

Required Abilities and Conduct:

  • Possess the necessary qualifications to obtain state-mandated certifications (e.g., TWIC, OSHA) and other applicable requirements.
  • Exhibit a strong commitment to the "Zero is achievable" safety policy, both in words and actions, to ensure the safety of oneself, others, and the environment.
  • Uphold the highest ethical standards, refusing to compromise on worker safety and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrate a consistently positive, supportive, and cooperative demeanor when interacting with co-workers, supervisors, and management.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding written and verbal information pertaining to the company, its staff, management, and participating onsite affiliates.

Qualifications:

  • Hold a technical degree, with a preference for chemical engineering or mechanical engineering.
  • Possess Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification, if available.
  • Exhibit strong leadership abilities, exceptional organizational skills, and effective planning capabilities.
  • Have previous experience in manufacturing plant operations, maintenance, and capital projects.
  • Provide examples of being a role model within the Project Engineering function.
  • Uphold the highest ethical standards and an unwavering commitment to worker safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Possess organizational credibility and the ability to influence decision-making processes among business area, engineering, and manufacturing managers.
  • Possess 5-10 years of experience in maintenance and/or engineering fields.
  • Be willing to travel within the West Region for 25-45% of the time, depending on assigned workload.
  • Be able to obtain necessary certifications, such as TWIC and passport, and successfully pass refinery background checks.
