RESPONSIBILITIES
We're currently seeking highly motivated and energetic Manufacturing Engineer in Torrance, CA; our client is a leading global provider of advanced engineered solutions for the aerospace and transportation industries. The Company's primary businesses focus on jet engine components, aerospace fastening systems and titanium structural parts necessary for mission-critical performance and efficiency in aerospace and defense applications, as well as forged wheels for commercial transportation.
 
Essential Functions:
Performs engineering and technical assignments using manufacturing engineering practices and principles.  Designs, implements, and improves manufacturing methods and processes that support product quality and quantity goals and objectives.
 
Specific Responsibilities Include:
  • Design and debugging of manufacturing processes and tooling for Forming, Cutting, Milling, EDM, Thermal treatment, Finishing operations etc.
  • Analyzes and prepares capital equipment justifications of new equipment and production facilities.
  • Getting new equipment and facilities 'on line'.
  • Provides engineering support and leads problem solving/troubleshooting events.  Implements timely solutions to maintain the continuity of production flow.
  • Designs manufacturing processes within schedule and budgetary parameters.
  • Continuous improvement of tooling and methods.
  • Support reduction of set-up time.
  • Work hand-in-hand with production technicians to enhance manufacturing processes and troubleshoot issues.
  • Resource for technical guidance to manufacturing personnel.
  • Determine root cause of persistent problems and lead implementation of fixes.
  • Support Quality System Improvement.
  • Interfaces with location manufacturing departments to address and resolve engineering issues.
  • Interfaces with vendors and outside sales personnel to evaluate, cost estimate, and select parts or equipment.
  • Support marketing in the event of product application problems in the customer structure.
  • Support employee training.
  • Work in a safe manner that promotes the health and well-being of the individual and the environment.
  • Comply with all EHS rules and regulations and supervisory instructions.
  • Report all incidents including injuries, spills, fires, property damage, and near misses to their supervisor.
 
Experience and Background:
Must have a broad knowledge of metal manufacturing processes and principles. Requires experience in high precision metal forming, product and process failure analysis and a working knowledge of world class manufacturing techniques such as lean manufacturing, JIT, SPC, TQM, etc. Must have a demonstrated record of achievement in manufacturing and problem solving.  Good project management skills required.  Must be skilled in use of personal computers with emphasis on analytical software and project management. Knowledge of fastener manufacturing is desirable
 
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of eight (8) years' of engineering experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical Engineering or related field
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
