PTS Advance is seeking to hire a Functional Safety Engineer for one of our automotive clients in the Phoenix, AZ area. The Functional Safety Engineer will support the execution of safety-related activities and will play an important role in the entire safety life cycle.
The Functional Safety Engineer will be responsible for understanding the interactions between hardware and software elements. You must also be able to identify opportunities for adjustments and tailoring to help minimize the probability of risk. The Functional Safety Engineer will demonstrate a strong understanding and be able to talk through the distinctions in ISO 26262.
Responsibilities include:
- Work with architects to ensure concepts meet the safety requirements
- Utilizing familiarity and experience with ISO 26262 in the safety lifecycle
- Applying knowledge of automotive best-practices to system and component-level safety mechanisms
- Work with supplier contacts to analyze safety capabilities and safety-related functionalities
- Analyze system-level, software-level, and hardware-level safety (FMEDA, FTA, FFIA, DFA, FMEA)
- Define verification and requirements for safety-related features
- Support integration of pre-existing safety components and tools
- Demonstrate experience and knowledge in embedded systems in the automotive domain
- Quickly learn controller designs and assumed vehicle-level concepts
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, computer Science, electrical engineering, or related field
- MS in computer engineering or computer science preferred
- 4 years of experience in safety activities and safety-related embedded products or related MS
- Ability to comprehend new systems quickly and identify safety faults
