Procurement Specialist
Location: La Porte, TX
Contract Duration: 6 months with potential to extend
Pay Range: $40.00 per hour
Schedule: 40 hours a week
Responsibilities:
- The Procurement Specialist works closely with the Commodity Manager or Site Procurement Manager as well with stake holders at the manufacturing sites and capital project teams to achieve world class delivery and maximum value.
- The position assures site material and service requirements are met to keep the process units operating profitably and capital projects supplied for timely construction.
- Additionally, key focus is requited to maximize contribution to the company's bottom line through optimum cost savings, which includes negotiated cost reductions, cost avoidances, and working capital reductions.
- Review and access approved SAP purchase requisitions as needed for MRO related purchases.
- Continually seeking assurances that supplier inventory is available in a timely manner to support tight Manufacturing and Maintenance schedules
- Identify, select, review, and qualify vendors
- Assurance that purchases orders or contracts are in place for all contractors performing work at the site.
- Assurance that contractors are safely qualified.
- Insisting all contractors adherence to safety requirements and work on corrective plans with those who fall short of expectations
- Maintenance of the Approved Contractor Database
- Makes suggestions to standardize processes.
- Leverage capabilities of SAP to streamline interactions between maintenance and purchasing.
- Identify, secure and document Cost Savings and Cost Avoidances
Requirements:
- A minimum of 3 years procurement, material management, operations, maintenance, and/or operation/maintenance or may be entry-level after graduating with a BA/BS. Having a technical background would be considered a plus.
- Experience with SAP is a plus.
- Experience with Microsoft word and excel.
- Experience in the chemical industry is a plus.
