Senior Process Control Engineer
Remote | 50–75% Travel
Position Summary
A leading U.S. manufacturing organization is seeking a Senior Process Control Engineer to join its corporate engineering and process controls team. This position will leverage engineering expertise to troubleshoot, optimize, and improve the performance, reliability, and functionality of existing control systems while developing new control strategies to improve overall manufacturing performance.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and a strong background in continuous manufacturing environments. The position can be based remotely anywhere in the United States, with a preference for candidates located in the Southeast.
This role will partner closely with manufacturing facilities and local engineering and operations teams across the country. Significant travel to manufacturing sites will be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Support manufacturing facilities in maintaining safe, reliable, and efficient control system operations.
- Provide troubleshooting and technical support for day-to-day manufacturing operations.
- Advise operations and engineering teams on the selection, implementation, and optimization of process control technologies and strategies.
- Partner with site-level process control teams to optimize existing control systems and improve overall process performance.
- Design, program, configure, and modify control strategies within existing DCS environments.
- Identify engineering solutions to address equipment, controls, and process deficiencies.
- Serve as a technical subject matter expert on both large and small capital improvement projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to identify opportunities for improved reliability, efficiency, and process performance.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 7+ years of professional experience working with DCS-based control systems.
- Demonstrated experience with DCS troubleshooting, configuration, programming, and system design.
- Ability and willingness to travel 50–75%.
Preferred
- 10+ years of professional experience working with DCS-based control systems.
- Experience supporting process control within a continuous manufacturing environment.
- Experience with fiber-processing or similar complex continuous manufacturing processes.
- Experience with Honeywell TDC/Experion or Emerson DeltaV control systems.
- Experience supporting capital projects as a process controls subject matter expert.
Compensation
Estimated Base Salary: $110,000–$170,000 annually

This is a remote-based engineering position with significant travel to manufacturing facilities throughout the United States. The successful candidate will work closely with site operations, engineering, maintenance, and process control teams to improve control system reliability and manufacturing performance.
