Our client is an industrial gas manufacturing company and one of the largest producers of hydrogen and they have opportunities for experienced Instrument & Electrical Technicians (Analyzer Technicians) at their La Porte, Texas facility.


Technician responsible for providing routine analytical & technical support to the operating unit by performing analytical tests, instrument preventative maintenance, calibration, & other duties per written analytical procedures & work instructions. Will assist in problem solving efforts, product quality improvement projects.


Responsibilities include (not limited to):

· Participate in corporate & site safety programs. This includes attending safety meetings, completing training, performing observations, conducting inspections, promoting safety rules and regulations as well as environmental compliance.

· Engage actively in a team environment, bring a positive attitude, maintain personal accountability, & provide mentoring and coaching for team members development

· Analytical - Provide routine analytical support to operating/production units for: process, product-quality, environmental, and safety concerns.

· Responsible for performing and/or supervising the inspection, repair, calibration, & prevention activities associated w/a variety of Continuous Process Gas Analyzers, Environmental Analyzers, Moisture Analyzers, & Gas Chromatograph systems (GC's), Oxygen Analyzers, PH/Conductivity Analyzers, Area Monitors, Water Analysis Equipment. Includes complex gas sampling systems, analysis of samples, reporting of results, troubleshooting & evaluating connections between results & operation.

· Maintenance, troubleshooting, & support of analytical data acquisition, historization, & reporting systems.

· Assist updating/creating maintenance procedures to improve work processes

· Can help support w/analytical projects and gather the information upon request.

· Provide new plant commissioning support will also be required.

· Planning/Organizing - Structure work activities to improve efficiency, prioritize effectively and establish/follow action plans.

· Problem Solving/Prevention - Recognize existing or potential problems & implement measures to eliminate or reduce their impact. Includes making direct contact w/manufacturer representatives/technical resources within Air Products to diagnose & solve problems encountered.

· Provide necessary technical leadership to continuously improve the area's analytical equipment integrity, reliability, and on-stream factor.

· Provide Operational/Technical training to individual plant Operations & Maint. teams to improve overall technical knowledge of their systems.

· Support Maintenance Planner with planning & scheduling of activities.

· Must be able to develop work scopes for equipment repair & overhaul, to prepare and provide technical reports as well as enter information into SAP to provide accurate documentation on equipment & information to enable others in the organization to carry out their responsibilities effectively


Physical Requirements:

· Must be able to work in an industrial environment which includes climbing ladders & steps in elevated work, get on scaffolding, get on manlift type equipment

· Able to lift 50 lbs.

· Field activity will be required. Includes activities such as replacing calibration cylinders & operation of a forklift.

· Candidate will be required to wear hard hat, safety glasses, safety shoes, flame retardant clothing daily.

· Wearing PPE such as full body harness may also be required

· Must be able to wear supplied air & air purifying respiratory protection and be clean shaven

· Must be willing to work at a tobacco-free facility


Qualifications

· Familiarize with the analyzer sampling condition system (SCS) and understand the function of the components in the system

· Understand basic principle of analysis of each analyzer to help w/troubleshooting

· Demonstrate the ability to understand the P&ID /analyzer tubing/electrical drawings and provide the red mark to reflect what is in the field

· Be able to use a Multimeter to test/check the signals

· SAP or equivalent experience CMMS system a plus

· Demonstrate the practice of safe handling of hand tools & hand power tools typically and commonly used in maintenance tasks

· Five (5) yrs min maintenance experience in a petrochemical, manufacturing or military environment inspecting, repairing, & calibrating Instrumentation/Calibration & Analyzer systems

· Two-year Associate degree in Instrumentation/Electrical subject area /relevant military exp

· Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel spreadsheets) & able to maintain clear written records

· Good organizational skills, the ability to work alone if necessary, & the ability to lead a crew

· Supervisory skills/leading exp a plus

· Demonstrated safe work skills, fundamental computer skills & ability to work extended hours

· Able to work in a team environment w/Operators, Instrument & Electrical Techs, Mechanics, Engineering/Technical Support & other contracted crafts

· On call rotation & must be willing to work overtime

· Drive company vehicles safely
