  • Research and Development: Conduct research to improve the understanding of asphalt materials, their properties, and performance. Develop and test new asphalt formulations and additives, which includes but is not limited to asphalt shingles.
  • Innovation: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and develop innovative solutions to common asphalt-related challenges
  • Data Analysis: Collect, analyze, and interpret data from experiments and field studies. Be able to outline methodically the breadth and depth of any complex problem.
  • Technical Documentation: Document and update as needed in the form of a logbook, discussions, planning and execution on the shared documentation platform. Prepare reports of completed projects for documentation, presentation or for use in further research activities. 
  • Project Management: Lead 3 to 5 projects simultaneously. Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gather and analyze information skillfully, think outside the box and provide alternative solutions, work well in group problem solving situations.
 
Qualifications:
  • A Ph.D. or Master's degree in civil engineering, materials science, or a related field with a focus on asphalt materials and construction.
  • Strong knowledge of asphalt materials, pavement design, and construction techniques.
  • Proficiency in laboratory testing, data analysis, and statistical software tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills for presenting research findings and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability practices in asphalt construction is a plus.
  • Experience in grant writing and securing research funding is desirable.
 
 
Education and Experience Requirements                 
  • A Ph.D. in chemical engineering, civil engineering, chemistry, or closely related field.
  • A Master's degree in chemical engineering, civil engineering or chemistry with 3 years' experience.
  • Able to travel up to 15% of the time.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong leadership, project management, and team collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and regulatory compliance.
  • Effective communication skills for presenting research findings and interacting with stakeholders.
  • Strong commitment to innovation and intellectual property protection.
