Director of Plant Operations

 
Our client is looking for a Director of Plant Operations to join their rapidly expanding team. The company is a fully intergraded, sustainable energy provider to high education and healthcare campuses, cities, and communities.  In each community, the company operates highly efficient and innovative utility infrastructures that produce and distribute electricity, steam, hot water and/or chilled water to customer building and campuses.
The Director of Operations will be a key member of Houston Operations reporting directly to the VP and General Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of applicable chiller and boiler plants, energy transfer stations, and distribution piping networks.  This is a direct hire opportunity to assist their facilities in Houston, TX.

Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Supervise plant operating engineer staff
  2. Supervise and overview operations and maintenance of all plant systems and equipment
  3. Maintain appropriate training/certifications
  4. Provide operating engineer training as required
  5. Responsible for operating and maintenance expenses and maintenance capital projects are appropriate and within annual budget
  6. Ensure a high level of customer service to internal and external customers.
  7. Ensure plants are operated in a cost efficient manner
  8. Provide operating summaries and reports on a scheduled basis                                                                                                           
  9. Ensure equipment maintenance program, safety work procedures, and environmental programs are kept current

Skills & Qualifications
  1. Experience in a technical or engineering program with 8-10 years of experience in a management position for operations and maintenance of large refrigeration, energy or boiler plants
  2. Good written and oral communication skills
  3. Good analytical skills and an ability to perform general mathematical calculations required to operate refrigeration, energy or boiler plants, and customer energy transfer stations 
  4. Knowledge of relevant computer systems and ability to display applicable level of computer literacy
  5. Good supervisory skills
  6. Availability to respond to situations as needed outside regular business hours
