Job Summary:

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist to join our team. The EHS Specialist will be responsible for assisting with developing, implementing, and sustaining the safety, health, and environmental programs to ensure compliance with regulations and promote a safe and healthy work environment. This role will be a coach and resource for branch leadership and operational personnel focused on driving continuous improvement to the EHS management system, while assuring 100% operational alignment. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to promoting a culture of safety within the organization.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement EHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, including OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other applicable agencies.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and audits to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees at all levels, including new hire orientation, refresher courses, and specialized training as needed.
  • Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence and ensure continual improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to EHS activities, including incident reports, training records, and regulatory permits. Utilize customized EHS software to track.
  • Monitor and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the effectiveness of EHS programs and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate EHS considerations into daily operations, emphasizing continuous improvement and best practices.
  • Serve as the secondary point of contact for regulatory agencies, auditors, and other external stakeholders regarding environmental, health, and safety matters.
  • Facilitate open communication channels to promote employee engagement and participation in safety initiatives.
  • Organize information sharing events, provide material for weekly, monthly, and quarterly recurring safety meetings at branch locations in order to raise safety awareness, maintain consistent messaging and encourage a positive, pro-active safety culture.
  • Leverage telematics data and dash camera footage to analyze causes of accidents, near misses, and aggressive driving behaviors to identify risk trends and develop plans to mitigate.
  • Maintain customer-required contractor safety management programs such as ISNetworld, Veriforce, Avetta, and EcoVadis.
  • Oversee chemical inventory database online to ensure all branches adequately track Safety Data Sheets (SDSs).
  • Provide assistance with completing all EHS related content for customer required prequalification packets.
  • Collaborating with management and human resources to ensure effective communication and coordination of safety initiatives, candidate onboarding.
  • Assisting in the management of workers' compensation claims by initiating the claim, providing documentation to the insurance carrier related to the injury as well as ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
  • Ensure the Company's Drug & Alcohol Testing Program meets federal, state and customer requirements (NCMS, DISA, OSCA) and provides for the required recordkeeping and reporting.
  • Administer Company and client specific DOT and Non-DOT Drug and Alcohol testing pools (PHMSA and FMCSA).
  • Oversee contractor safety management program.
  • All other duties as assigned.

· Overnight travel may be required (estimated at 25%).


Qualifications:


  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental, health, and safety management, preferably in industrial or environmental services, oil and gas, or petrochemical.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and best practices, including OSHA, EPA, ANSI/AIHA, and DOT.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing effective EHS programs and initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement and risk management.
  • Experience conducting safety inspections, incident investigations, and risk assessments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EHS management software.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in record-keeping and reporting.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Must be able to exercise tact, discretion, and professionalism when dealing with internal clients and external counterparties (customers, vendors, etc.), as well as when handling sensitive and confidential information.
