Job: Electrical Design Engineer
Location: Rotterdam, New York
Role: PTS Advance is actively searching for an Electrical Design Engineer to work with our client on developing and implementing new designs and design improvements for assigned scope of electrical systems and components within power packages (such as Switchgears, Breakers, and Control Systems / Panels). This is a 6-month contract with full-time hours.
Scope:
- Develop and implement new designs and design improvements for assigned scope of electrical systems and components within power packages such as Switchgears, Breakers, and Control Systems / Panels
- Design Electrical 3 Lines and AC / DC Elementary.
- Implement design and deliverables such as specifications, engineering analysis, drawings, schematics, design layouts, BOM, PO requests, O&M Manuals, Spare parts List and other documentation as requested), based on product requirements.
- Perform power circuit protection, circuit design and component selection for the various products our client offers.
- Provide technical clarification and direction during the design phase with suppliers and CAC manufacturing during the Execution Phase.
- Work with manufacturing to test and qualify proper operation of components based on the design of the product and resolve any / all issues as needed to maintain product quality prior to shipment.
- Communicate with external consultants and third parties to achieve certification of designs (UL, CSA, CE, etc.).
- Work with product support teams to determine root cause of component or system failures and implement corrective actions to meet product reliability goals for customers.
- Give direction to produce connection drawings required for panel manufacturing.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or related Engineering.
- Minimum of 3 years engineering experience
- Knowledge of electrical distribution, power electronics, or control system design.
- Familiarity with NFPA 70 and 70E.
- Familiarity with IEEE, NEC, IEC, UL, CSA and IEC standards.
- Experience with working on customer/project needs including redesign/customization of existing customer products.
- Effective technical documentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to meet goals and objectives.
- Proven interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Effective communication and presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced Technology Degree
- Familiarity with Custom Panel Design for various applications (Both Electrical and Mechanical).
- Working knowledge of low & high voltage electrical distribution, power conversion and control system design.
- Working knowledge of power electronics and control systems
