At PTS Advance, we partner with industry leaders to deliver top-tier technical talent and engineering expertise. We are seeking an engineer with a strong foundation in magnetic component design to support one of our key clients in the power distribution space. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to critical product development initiatives while working alongside high-performing teams across engineering and manufacturing.

Position Overview

In this role, you will support the full lifecycle of magnetics used in power distribution equipment—from concept and modeling through prototype testing and production support. You'll help drive design quality, ensure reliable performance, and champion continuous improvement efforts across global operations.

Key Responsibilities

Develop magnetic components, including transformers, inductive devices, and current-sensing elements, ensuring they meet electrical, mechanical, and manufacturability requirements. Core work involves three-phase dry-type transformers between ~50 kVA and 2 MVA.
Collaborate with manufacturing teams to refine build methods, testing procedures, and overall production readiness.
Perform prototype evaluations to confirm design intent and validate performance.
Investigate and troubleshoot issues found in testing or production, identifying root causes and providing corrective recommendations.
Assess new materials, fabrication techniques, and design technologies, advising on adoption where beneficial.
Qualifications

1–5 years of industry experience related to magnetics or power component design.
Strong understanding of electromagnetic fundamentals and their application in practical design settings.
Experience with modeling and analysis tools such as OSP, Ansoft, or similar. (OSP experience preferred; training available.)
Working knowledge of applicable compliance and certification requirements for magnetic products.
Strong communication skills and the ability to balance multiple priorities effectively.
Ability to collaborate with teams across multiple locations and time zones.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience in magnetics or power system component design/testing.
