Electrical Engineer - Tuscaloosa, AL

Overview:

The Electrical Engineer will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our manufacturing processes. This position requires a proactive approach to troubleshooting, an aptitude for collaborative problem-solving, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety: Prioritize safety in all aspects of work, fostering a culture of awareness and accountability. Report and address any safety concerns promptly to ensure a secure work environment.
  • Manufacturing Expertise: Demonstrate proficiency in the Manufacturing Playbook and Playlist methodologies, applying them across all operational areas to optimize efficiency and quality.
  • Technical Proficiency: Utilize advanced knowledge of PLC and HMI programs, instrumentation, and drives to troubleshoot issues on production lines, employing analytical techniques to identify and implement solutions.
  • Data Analysis and Process Improvement: Analyze data to pinpoint areas for improvement in a dynamic manufacturing setting. Lead the implementation of enhancements to PLC programs and automation systems, collaborating closely with the Plant Systems team.
  • Documentation and Collaboration: Facilitate change management processes and maintain comprehensive including engineering drawings, manuals, and troubleshooting guides. Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to address departmental needs effectively.
  • Training and Mentorship: Provide guidance and training to controls and plant personnel, sharing expertise to enhance skill development and operational efficiency.
  • Innovation and Technology Integration: Stay informed about emerging technologies and trends in controls, drives, and web handling. Lead the integration and adoption of new technologies to drive operational excellence.
  • Project Management: Assume the role of project manager for installation projects, developing project specifications and coordinating with cross-functional teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electro-Mechanical, or Controls Engineering from an accredited university, along with a minimum of 3 years of professional experience.
  • Extensive background in PLC code development and motion control systems, preferably using VFDs and Servos (Siemens preferred).
  • Experience with HMI programming (Aveva preferred) and proficient in AutoCAD Electrical and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication skills for effectively presenting work to various stakeholders and resolving process issues.
  • Self-directed individual capable of prioritizing workload and resources to optimize production processes.

Preferred Experience (Beneficial but not Required):

  • Field service engineering or technician background.
  • System integration of third-party equipment and programming.
  • Experience with Archestra System Platform and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning applications in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in process control and PID tuning, HMI programming (Wonderware preferred), and experience in roofing manufacturing or web process handling.
  • Familiarity with Machine Vision or Vision Inspection Systems installation and programming, as well as IIOT Devices.
