Electrical Field Technician

PTS is looking for a mid level field engineer / technician with strong experience working on-site with power distribution equipment up to 480VAC. This position plays a key role in the testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment within manufacturing and industrial settings.


Core Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with clients to understand project requirements and communicate technical information clearly.
  • Provide on-site technical oversight and coordinate field activities during installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
  • Support the implementation of engineering designs and assist with resolving field issues.
  • Oversee equipment installation, testing, maintenance, and commissioning activities.
  • Coordinate and provide direction to contractors, technicians, and other on-site personnel.
  • Perform field walk-downs to gather information on existing systems and support development of as-built electrical and instrumentation documentation.
  • Participate in factory acceptance testing (FAT) for electrical and power distribution systems.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineering leads to ensure project quality, schedule adherence, and cost control.
  • Provide status updates and documentation related to project progress, issues, and potential change orders.
  • Travel up to approximately 75%, including air travel, to support project sites.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 3+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electrical systems and power equipment up to 480 VAC.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings.
  • Experience evaluating installed systems to ensure alignment with approved electrical designs.
  • Proven troubleshooting ability for electrical and control system issues.
  • Solid understanding of panel wiring and field wiring diagrams.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of electrical safety standards and codes, including **National Fire Protection Association standards such as NFPA 70 National Electrical Code and NFPA 70E.
