Engineering Technician 6 (Power Generation - Electrical)

Temp-to-Hire Opportunity (6 months with potential for full-time hire)

We're currently seeking an experienced Engineering Technician 6 to support the electrical design of power generation projects. This hybrid position is open to candidates located near any U.S. office location and is a temp-to-hire opportunity, with full-time potential after 6 months for the right candidate.


Position Overview

This role functions in a senior-level design capacity, supporting the development of electrical systems for power plant projects. The ideal candidate will be proficient in equipment modeling, conduit and cable tray layouts, duct bank design, and circuit routing. You'll collaborate across disciplines, provide guidance to junior staff, and help ensure high-quality, compliant deliverables.


Key Responsibilities

Technical Execution & Design:

  • Support electrical design efforts for power generation facilities.

  • Perform advanced layout and modeling of equipment, raceways, cable trays, duct banks, and embedded conduits.

  • Conduct circuit routing QA and prepare Bluebeam markups for team delegation.

  • Interpret engineering inputs to produce accurate design documents using CAD and other design tools.

Project Coordination:

  • Coordinate design work across multiple disciplines to ensure consistency and alignment.

  • Contribute to planning and scheduling of project deliverables.

  • Support construction and startup-related activities, as needed.

Quality & Compliance:

  • Ensure designs meet applicable codes, standards, and internal quality guidelines.

  • Maintain drawing control and project documentation.

  • Promote continuous improvement and quality control throughout the design process.

Team Support & Mentorship:

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced technicians/designers.

  • Assist with resource planning and work delegation when necessary.


Required Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Drafting or a related Engineering Design Technology (Bachelor's degree preferred).

  • 8+ years of electrical design experience, preferably within the power generation industry.

  • Proficient in conduit/cable tray sizing, circuit routing QA, and equipment modeling.

  • Advanced experience with duct bank layout, cable bus, non-seg bus, and embedded conduit systems.

  • Ability to prepare Bluebeam markups and coordinate across disciplines.


Preferred Skills

  • Intermediate knowledge of lighting design (AGi32 experience preferred).

  • Familiarity with construction and plant startup practices.

  • Working knowledge of CAD tools and other relevant design software.

  • Strong communication, time management, and problem-solving abilities.


Additional Requirements

  • Must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding, including background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records review, as required by applicable laws and regulations.
