Responsibilities
Safety Program Development and Implementation:
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining behavior-based health and safety programs, systems, and procedures.
  • Write job hazard analyses (JHA) and health & safety plans (HASP).
  • Establish and maintain health and safety communication structures and systems.
Training and Education:
  • Facilitate safety training programs for subcontractors and employees.
  • Train and advise on workplace safety issues.
  • Organize and lead job site safety meetings.
Incident Investigation and Reporting:
  • Investigate and document workplace accidents, injuries, and hazard complaints.
  • Record and report incidents using PROCORE.
  • Oversee accident investigations and interface with workers' compensation claims.
Oversee Safety and OSHA Compliance:
  • Manage all aspects of industrial construction projects to ensure compliance with clients' Site Specific Safety Program (SSSP), EnergyLink safety program, and OSHA regulations.
  • Implement, educate, and enforce OSHA regulations.
  • Notify management of unsafe conditions.
Monitoring and Inspections:
  • Conduct daily safety meetings, audits, and inspections using PROCORE templates.
  • Monitor and prevent workplace hazards and diseases.
  • Perform safety audits and periodic inspections on all job sites to ensure safety procedures are followed.
Documentation and Record-Keeping:
  • Maintain daily activity logs.
  • Collect subcontractors' safety plans, daily logs, equipment inspections, and checklists.
  • Record and compile data, update logs, monitor equipment, and schedule maintenance.
Communication and Coordination:
  • Influence others through consistent management modeling.
  • Act as a resource for all project tasks, providing coaching and mentoring.
  • Champion the incident investigation process and follow up on issue resolutions.
  • Update and maintain the company's contingency and recovery plans.
Equipment and Materials Safety:
  • Determine the necessary materials and equipment to ensure project health and safety.
  • Verify the adequacy and safety of all proposed tools and equipment.
  • Develop and ensure safe equipment operating techniques.
Site Access and Safety:
  • Ensure monitored access and safe ingress and egress on the site for workers and visitors.
  • Orient team members to the project's health and safety plan protocols and management accountability.
Plan Review and Updating:
  • Review and update all site-specific safety plans monthly with project teams.
Follow-Up and Enforcement:
  • Follow up with subcontractor representatives to ensure proper disciplinary procedures.
Construction Safety Coordinator Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in safety and health program management.
  • 5+ years of experience in construction safety.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, local safety laws, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Sound ethical judgment, strong leadership skills, and the ability to work independently.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • CPR/First Aid Certified.
  • Experience with large industrial or civil construction projects.
  • Experience with PROCORE.
  • Experience working with local unions.
