This position reports to the site Reliability Engineering Manager.
What you will do:
- Lead the daily activities of and provide vision for the I&E Reliability team consisting of an I&E Engineer, I&E Designer, I&E Specialists, Control Systems Programmer, and Control Systems Administrator
- Support the site's occupational and process safety goals and objectives
- Execute yearly goal setting and performance management of direct reports
- Work cross functionally with all work groups and disciplines to identify and resolve short- and long-term continuous improvement opportunities and vulnerabilities at site
- Develop, implement, and manage core I&E Reliability programs at site, including:
- Instrument and Electrical Integrity
- Safety Instrumented Systems
- PM and PDM programs
- Bad Actors
- Spare parts strategies
- Root Cause Analysis
- Critical Asset Identification
- PM Optimization
- QA/QC
- Attend and support PHA and SILD (Safety Integrity Level Determination) studies at site
- Participate on Corporate SIS and Electrical Site Stakeholder Teams (SSTs)
- Lead efforts to perform gap analysis and implement of best practices developed by the Engineering and Technology Center (ETC)
- Ensure the timely completion of assigned PSM action items (ETQ) assigned to yourself and direct reports
- Perform technical review of MOC's to assure compliance with site best practices and PSM requirements
- Review and approve capital project packages and equipment specifications to ensure incorporation of site and PSM best practices
- Identify and develop scope for routine and emergency outages and TARs
- Management of Cybersecurity programs for Control Systems
- Support various site audits
- Review I&E equipment repair plans and associated procedures/recommendations developed by planning and direct reports
- Work with department manager to develop yearly budgets
- Identify opportunities for capital expenditure on I&E assets (end of life, upgrades, bad actors, etc.)
- Work with training department to identify developmental and training opportunities for direct reports
What you will bring:
- B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred. Other degrees may be considered with relevant experience
- A minimum of 7-10 years of I&E Engineering experience in the petrochemical or related industry is preferred
- I&E Leadership experience within the petrochemical or related industry preferred
- Familiarity with a large variety of Electrical, Instrument, Analyzer, and Control System equipment is required
- Familiarity with a variety of root cause analysis methodologies such as Apollo, 5-Why, Taproot, etc. is preferred
- Familiarity with Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEP) for I&E equipment is preferred
- Familiarity with various test methods and procedures for I&E Equipment is preferred
- Familiarity with Process Safety Management (PSM) principles, especially as they relate to a successful Mechanical Integrity (MI) program is preferred
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards, including, but not limited to: NFPA 70, NFPA 70B, NFPA 70E, ANSI/NETA MTS, and ANSI S84 is preferred
- Strong Leadership, Communication, and Interpersonal skills
- Desire and temperament to coach and develop subordinates
- Motivated, self-sufficient, and possess the ability to multitask and prioritize work for themselves and subordinates
- Strong technical background and the ability to write and communicate technically to others inside and outside the department
- Familiarity with interpreting and developing electrical, instrument, and control systems drawings
- High desire to support continuous improvement initiatives
- Advanced computer skills as it related to data manipulation in spreadsheets, generating reports, navigation of CMMS programs, Microsoft Office Suite, and other various software packages used routinely by I&E Engineers and Technicians
Ability to work extended hours including outages and turnarounds
