CBT Designer - (Hybrid, Brentwood, TN)

Training & Development Team | 3 Days Onsite

We are seeking a proactive Computer-Based Training (CBT) Designer to support our Training & Development team within a major chemical refinery. This role is responsible for researching regulatory requirements, translating technical information into engaging training content, and developing high-quality e-learning modules that ensure workforce compliance and readiness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and interpret OSHA regulations, refinery policies, and industry standards to ensure training content is accurate and compliant.
  • Develop company-specific training modules, including e-learning courses, simulations, and digital learning tools.
  • Create storyboards, outlines, and course structures that transform complex technical concepts into clear, engaging learner experiences.
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), safety teams, and operations personnel to gather requirements and validate content.
  • Utilize CBT and e-learning development software (Articulate, Captivate, Camtasia, etc.) to build interactive modules.
  • Integrate AI tools for content generation, automation, and improved learner engagement (AI experience is a strong plus).
  • Ensure training meets SCORM/AICC standards and aligns with Learning Management System (LMS) requirements.
  • Manage multiple projects with minimal supervision-taking initiative, anticipating needs, and driving deliverables to completion.
  • Assist with updates, revisions, and continuous improvement of existing training materials.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Communications, HSE, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of experience designing CBT/e-learning content, preferably in industrial, chemical, or manufacturing environments.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA, safety compliance, and regulatory training development.
  • Proficiency with e-learning design tools (Articulate Storyline, Captivate, Rise, Camtasia, etc.).
  • Experience researching policies, regulations, and technical documentation.
  • Strong writing, storyboarding, and graphic communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple priorities.
  • Familiarity with AI or automation tools for training development is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Work Environment

  • Hybrid schedule: 3 days per week onsite in Brentwood, TN.
  • Fast-paced Training & Development group supporting a highly regulated chemical facility.
