Instrument/Electrical Engineer
Our client is a is a leading global provider of adhesives, composites and formulation products.
They are seeking an Instrument/Electrical Engineer for Instrument and Electrical engineering support for capital/expense projects and PSM related initiatives for their division located in Conroe, TX.
The Instrument/Electrical Engineer will also be responsible to:
- Develop scope of work details for the Instrument/Electrical discipline generally related to PSM projects and initiatives.
- Do project management and implementation which includes field inspection, problem solving, start-up assistance, coordination, cost control, and scheduling.
- Perform design calculations and provide specifications for new equipment procurement and installations. Evaluates and selects suppliers for specific instrument/electrical applications.
- Provide instrument/electrical expertise and technical support to the plant for repairs, preventive maintenance, maintenance procedures and equipment operating procedures as required.
- Participate in design hazard reviews including Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA).
- Perform LOPA validation and Safety Integrity Level (SIL) verification.
- Design/develop processes and documentation for lifecycle management of instrumented safeguards identified by hazard review studies including but not limited to: Safety Requirement Specifications for Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), proof test procedures for instrumented protective functions, monitoring/analyzing SIS and instrumented safeguard failure rates, optimization of testing regimes, etc.
- Process Safety Management (PSM) compliance as it relates to instrument/electrical equipment integrity, engineering design, electrical area classification, design hazard reviews, process safety information, maintenance related procedures and all applicable document retention requirements.
- Participate in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives as set forth by the company.
- Lead root cause activities for equipment/process failures.
Required Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent degree.
- 5+ years of working experience/knowledge of ANSI/ISA?84.00.01 (IEC 61511) for the process industry.
- Proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft programs
- Knowledge of instrument and electrical equipment in a refinery/chemical plant setting highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineering License.
- 10+ years of working experience/knowledge of ANSI/ISA?84.00.01 (IEC 61511) for the process industry.
