Job Title: Maintenance Engineer
Location: Big Spring, Texas
Duration: 6-12 month contract to hire.
Schedule: 4/10's, typical work week averages between 40 - 50 hours.
Pay rate: $60 - $100/hr (based on background/experience)
OT: Yes, any work hours over 40 will be paid as time and a half.
Per diem: Yes, for non-local candidates
SCOPE
This role is responsible for supporting the Maintenance Organization to ensure consistent work practices in line with RAMS and associated site processes and procedures. This role can be further subdivided into two distinct areas: asset reliability and maintainability, and program health management.
Asset Reliability and Maintainability
The Maintenance Engineer is an integral part of the asset management operation and should take a risk based approach to all RAMS Element 5 activities. This includes communication of asset concerns to decision-makers, assisting the Reliability department in analyzing defects and improvement options with maintainability in mind, and reviewing small projects and recommendations from other groups with a mindset towards maintenance standardization and asset reliability.
Required Experience:
5 - 10 years of experience in maintenance/reliability engineering in oil/gas, chemical, industrial, or related industry.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience.
RAMS Element 5 Programs Health Management
The Maintenance Engineer assist the Maintenance Organization Leadership with managing RAMS 5 processes and procedures to ensure compliance and continuous improvement. This includes assisting leadership with data analysis, identifying system improvement opportunities, and assisting with the onboarding of new personnel within the Maintenance organization.
The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for, but not limited to, the following activities:
- Point-of-contact for Maintenance Organization for utilizing Engineering Practices during equipment repair and improvement.
- This includes review of in the development of design, installation and commissioning specifications involving the Maintenance department.
- Provides equipment technical support and consultation to Maintenance Technicians and Operations personnel as needed; seen as the Maintenance Organization's rapid problem solver.
- Provides key link between Maintenance and Reliability Organizations to ensure failure analysis and defect elimination are given high priority.
- Maintenance procedure writing and training support to ensure content is user-friendly.
- Supports organization in the development of criteria for and evaluation of service suppliers.
- Shares link to Materials Management with Maintenance Planning department to ensure the proper disposition and use of equipment spare parts, surplus, and rental equipment.
- Supports Maintenance Execution by acting as a champion of quality assurance, including work performed at outside shops.
- Lead Preventative Maintenance Optimization effort to verify proper PM plan criteria for equipment and adjust to the proper interval cycles.
- Champion the critical spares program for equipment by monitoring / tracking the status of these spares through the repair and purchasing processes.
- Assist with management of RAMS Element 5 health, including KPI generation and reporting, Area Business Team support, and internal / external assessment participation. This requires a consistent level of knowledge and continuous training related to the Site's CMMS
- Support pre-startup reviews through active participation and focus on installations per EP's.
- Active participant in Maintenance Strategy process (participate in FMEA sessions, preventative maintenance task development, one-time task design development)
- Site incident investigator or team member.
Top Skills needed:
1. Flexibility: This role revolves around making the plant run so OT and long hours are a must. Not that it will be daily or weekly but there will be times you are expected to work longer than an 8 or 10 hour day.
2. Teamwork: Again, this role is focused on making the plant run, helping the team with any issues or problems that arise.
3. Industry experience: Candidates who have a strong background in maintenance & reliability engineering who come from the oil/gas, petrochemical, chemical, or industrial industry will be a strong fit for this role.
