Role Description:

Position develops a detail schedule of project activities for various resources including equipment and materials according to schedules and work lists. Position also communicates and coordinates activities to planning and execution coordinator based on schedules. 


Job Responsibilities: 

  • Interact directly with execution contractor and planners to develop schedules for onsite construction, off-site work, disciples, live unit tie-in work, shutdown, start-up, and post start-up activities using Primavera or MS Project scheduling tool 

  • Work directly with the project management team to: 

  • Develop work lists 

  • Gain an understanding of target project schedule duration 

  • Review jobs on worklist and develop a tentative schedule 

  • Identify key milestones and critical path activities 

  • Adjust schedule based on approved changes 

  • Obtain approval of final schedule from project management team 

  • Develop pre-construction schedules including: 

  • Bid award for contracts 

  • Contractor selection and evaluation 

  • Long lead and short-term materials delivery 

  • Site mobilization/preparation plan and demobilization plan including remove surplus materials and temporary trailers 

  • Operations equipment shutdown/clearing  

  • Operations equipment start-up 

  • During project, conduct the following: 

  • Meet daily with execution resources to update overall schedule 

  • Generate new daily/weekly schedule and 3-day look-ahead schedules 

  • Analyze overall work progress impact on schedule 

  • Analyze any approved added work/scope on overall schedule 

  • Monitor progress on milestones and critical path compliance 

  • Report schedule progress and impacts to project management team 

  • Track resource compliance with plans and budgets 

  • Verify that no addition work added to schedule unless approved by project management team 

  • Manage tracking of project deliverables and verify final deliverables are retained by document controls 

  • Assist in the development of work package and track the issuance of packages to the schedule 

  • Contribute to weekly and monthly project forecasting 

  • Communicate with cost engineering any schedule deviations 

  • Conduct post project work including: 

  • Update schedule with final changes 

  • Archive per Valero's project procedures  

  • Document “lessons learned” 


Qualifications & Skills for Success: 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience at project scheduler in petro-chemical industry 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with Primavera and MS project scheduling tools
