Material Handler

Job Summary:
Material Handler should be safety focused, customer oriented, and have an aptitude for details, processes and computers. He/She will accurately perform receiving, issuing, shipping, and delivery activities. He/She is responsible for monitoring and maintaining security and controls for warehouse storage facilities and ensuring consistency and reliability of physical inventory.

General Duties
Understands workflow processes and SAP warehousing functionality.  
Assist with resolving inventory and material order problems.  
Assist with training on warehouse systems and processes.
Maintains records in accordance with the company's records retention policy.  
Identify areas for process improvements and optimization.  
Identify inventory discrepancies, receiving discrepancies and damaged material and takes appropriate action.  
Establishes and maintains effective methods of communication with Supervisor, co-workers, customer groups and Supply Chain personnel.

Receiving
Unload and visually inspect all material at receiving dock area for damage, loss, or defects.  
Compare physically received material to supplier packing lists and MPC purchase orders.  
Enter a good's receipt into SAP for actual material received.  
Utilize SAP to seek and obtain purchase order information.  
File receiving documents as required by established policies and procedures.
Complete and provide Over/Short and Damaged (OS&D) report to the Warehouse Supervisor or assigned buyer.  
Ensure material quality reviews are performed.  
Communicate purchase order adjustment needs to buyer and support goods receipt adjustments requests.  
Segregate items requiring Positive Material Identification testing; and when required perform the testing using a metallurgy analyzer.

Material Storage
Determine material destination (i.e. warehouse stock, staging, or requestor)
Ensure materials are properly identified and clearly labeled.
Sort and place material on racks, shelves, and in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type and style.
Assign locations in SAP for new and relocated material.
Properly store hazardous materials and ensure its properly identified.

Material Disbursement
Perform warehouse material disbursement activities.  
Utilize SAP reservation system and stage material for pick up.  
Gather orders utilizing a pick list and verify bin count for accuracy
Issue material from SAP.  
Utilize spot checks of inventory at time of Issue and storing  
Deliver to or notify requestor of material readiness for pick up.
Direct issue material for non-requisitioned disbursement.  

Material Shipments
Verify hazardous materials are properly identified, marked, and labeled prior to shipping.  
Ensure the corresponding SDS (Safety Data Sheet) is included with the shipment.  
Maintain material logs and tracking.  
Prepare material for shipping (i.e. package, weigh, secure, etc.)
