PTS Advance is looking for a part-time Mechanical/Process/Piping engineer to consult with our engineering client in troubleshooting apparent cavitation issues in the new pipe and pump installation project using the following investigation:
Issue:
The fuel piping system was recently modified to reroute an existing 6-inch delivery line from below ground to overheard.
As part of the modification included replacement of two new, higher flow rate, pumps.
Scope of Services:
Client is experiencing cavitation, as described by client, and suction side line heating issues when operating both product unloading pumps simultaneously.
- Conduct a thorough inspection of the hydraulic system using pictures and as-built information.
- Review the pump specifications and operating parameters to ensure compatibility with the fluid.
- Conduct hydraulic modeling to optimize pump feed from the tank, taking into account fluid dynamics and system constraints.
- Provide troubleshooting steps to pinpoint the root cause of cavitation and identify any contributing factors.
- Provide recommendations to implement corrective measures to eliminate or minimize cavitation, considering adjustments to system design.
- Provide recommendations for preventive maintenance measures to avoid future cavitation issues.
- Provide a bulleted summary of findings, recommendations, actions needed.
- Experience with hydraulic analysis.
