Network Engineering Technician

Brentwood, TN

  • Hybrid role: 40-50% remote; 50-60% onsite

The Network Engineering Tech will have the following responsibilities:


  • Deploy company LANs, WANs and wireless networks, including routers, switches, and other hardware.
  • Configure networks to ensure their smooth, reliable and optimal operation.
  • Familiarity with Cisco IOS and Cisco TAC
  • Ensure upgrades of all network hardware and related software is performed timely.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.
  • Maintain network performance history and provide network performance statistics and reports. Investigate & suggest applicable monitoring software.
  • Collaborate with executive management and others within the IT Department to assess current and long-term network capacity needs.
  • Create new and maintain current documentation.
  • Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
  • Participate in managing all network security solutions.
  • Participate in the on-call technical support rotation.
  • Perform all job responsibilities in alignment with the industry's best security practices and regulatory guidelines to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected information and other sensitive company data.


Required Qualifications - Education, Skills & Experience:

  • 2+ years of related experience.
  • Bachelor's or technical degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Understanding of Cisco VOIP; Understand Cisco Call Manager
  • Experience with Cisco switches
  • Understanding of the OSI model
  • Ability to document with Visio and /or Microsoft Software
  • Ability to configure, implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices including: Wireless Access Points, Routers, Switches, Cradlepoint Wireless, SD-WAN devices, Cisco Wireless LAN Controller
  • Ability to troubleshoot Physical Layer issue (Fiber Optic/Copper)


Preferred Qualifications - Education, Skills & Experience:

  • 2+ years' experience in network design, implementation, support required
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) required; Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) preferred
  • Experience with BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP is a plus
