Our client, a major chemical producer, is looking for Operations Team Leads in Carson, CA (direct hire opportunities).
The Team lead is responsible for the safety and performance of the operations crew and for the safe, efficient operation. The Team lead has responsibility for communication of safety and process issues to the site leadership team and will put the safe shut-down of the site ahead of production.
This position is familiar with plant operations and work processes at the site and drives consistency of safe operating best practices and in policy administration across the site.
The Team lead reports directly to the Operations Superintendent with a dotted line to the Site Manager.
The position has direct supervisory responsibility for the operations crew to which they are assigned. This position is also responsible for the safe operation of the site during nights and weekends, and will interface with the Lab, maintenance, contractors, and the refinery to ensure safe operations across the site.
Successful candidates must have the ability to coordinate site activities between all site personnel to optimize safety, environmental, production, and quality. Incumbents must drive the company mission and objectives by holding operation crews accountable for results. Candidates must demonstrate a high level of leadership ability, culminations skills, decision making.
The Operations Team Lead is also responsible for:

- Operations Performance
- Efficient management of site activities and Operations
- Leadership; mentor Operations technicians

Required Skills & Experience:
Minimum high school diploma or GED
Currently serves or has served in one of the following roles: Operations Technician
Eight (8) years of experience in manufacturing environment
Must be willing to work a regular rotating 12-hour shift work schedule
Technical skills:
- Experience and knowledge of chemical operations
- Experience and knowledge of industry standards and codes
- Experience and knowledge of OSHA 1910.119
- Familiarity with process and personnel safety systems
Behavioral skills:
- Strongly developed interpersonal, leadership and communication skills.
- Possesses a track record of accomplishment in leading roles by driving safety and accountability.
- Strong process knowledge and ability to learn
- Strong knowledge on unit operations
- Fundamental knowledge of principles of financial budgeting and capital management skills.
- Strong demonstrated ability to manage, progress and deliver multiple and competing priorities.
- Proven commitment and delivery of SHE compliance.
- Ability to positively influence others/promote philosophy
- Defines personal success in terms of the whole team
- Makes timely and effective decisions, includes use of good judgment and consideration of proper balance between benefits/risks.
- Creates strong morale and spirit, feeling of belonging in team, broadly shares both routine and important tasks.
Compensation: Rate $138,000-$160,000 annually depending on experience.
