Overview
PTS Advance is seeking a Pipeline Electrical Engineer to support one of our amazing partners. The Pipeline Electrical Engineer conducts engineering duties related to the design, construction, and modification of pipeline and terminal facilities. Functions as a technical specialist to develop scope of work for instrumentation and electrical projects. Works as part of an interdisciplinary team to complete initial evaluation and engineering design for assigned projects.

Scope: 
- Duration: 12 month contract
- Schedule: 40 hours/week
- All work is 100% remote but is preferred to have someone in the following cities: Casper, WY, Dallas, TX, Tulsa, OK, Salt Lake City, UT, or Artesia, NM. 
- Travel will be based on an "as needed" basis based on assigned projects. 
- All travel expenses will be driving or flying (Miles, Motel, car rental, and meals while traveling) and will be reimbursed
- Individual will need to have fire retardant clothing, safety glasses, and steel toed footwear for all site visits. 
- Hard hat will be provided.

Hiring Manager NEEDS: 
- A person who feels comfortable being on the field! 
- Someone who understands piping design and can understand FEED and cost estimation. 
- More importantly, understanding low voltage. SCADA is key! 

Job Description:
* Applies knowledge of pipeline and terminal electrical and instrumentation design concepts, operating principles, and relevant engineering standards to the design of new facilities and the modification of existing facilities
* Applies knowledge of the NEC, NFPA, relevant API Standards and Recommended Practices, and other applicable codes and standards to pipeline and terminal related facilities.
* Applies knowledge of electrical equipment and power distribution to the design of new facilities and the modification of existing facilities
* Applies knowledge of instrumentation, process control, and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems to the design of new facilities and the modification of existing facilities
* Develops one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematic diagrams, and wiring diagrams,
* Completes AC power system studies as well as short circuit and arc flash studies
* Creates hazardous area classification drawings and specifies appropriately rated equipment
* Develops logic diagrams, cause & effect, control narratives and control systems
* Develops scope of work for projects and ensures projects meet applicable codes, standards and regulations
* Designs low and medium voltage electrical systems, including power, control, and instrumentation wiring
* Develops Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's)
* Develops equipment and instrument procurement packages.
* Provides electrical and instrumentation design support for projects
* Provides discipline specific engineering assistance to colleagues
* Solves technical problems related to projects and troubleshoots technical problems related to pipeline and terminal operations
* Researches and stays abreast of assigned discipline subjects, innovations and leading edge developments
* Manage the work of third party engineering, construction, and procurement firms (EPC)
* Manage cost and schedule on assigned projects
* Participate in efforts to develop new engineering and construction standards to ensure compliance with NFPA 70, NFPA 30, and other relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations
* Coordinate, facilitate and document Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), management of change and participate in and facilitate incident investigations
* Participate in Pre-startup Safety Reviews (PSSR) and commissioning of new or modified facilities
* Investigate and resolve work-in-process problems
* Recommend and implement improvements and/or modification in sequence of operations, equipment utilization, and related matters
* Review proposals of outside vendors regarding the purchase of new or modernization of existing equipment
* Act as a liaison between the company and county and state and/or other agencies
Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion

Requirements:
A minimum of five years of industrial experience required. 
Experience in design of instrumentation and electrical systems currently used in pipeline facilities including electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, plan drawings, conduit and cable tray layouts, pressure, temperature, flow, density, and other instrumentation, instrument loops, PLC and DCS, etc. 
Experience in selection of electrical equipment for industrial classified areas. 
Pipeline and/or terminal experience required.

Education requirements: 
- A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in an Electrical Engineering (Preferred)
- Or ten years of applicable experience and the ability to demonstrate the required skills.

Desired Credentials and Skills:
- Top 3-5 Required Technical Skills - (software, hardware, programming, discipline): Medium voltage power distribution, low voltage instrument wiring, A/D conversion, use of Programable Logic Controllers (not necessarily programing), and satellite and radio data communication.
- Top 3-5 Preferred Skills - Knowledge of P&ID's, knowledge of electrical one line diagrams, familiarity with arc flash. 
- Soft skills to include good written and verbal communication and ability to communicate with a diverse team.
- Working knowledge of and experience with engineering software.

Physical Requirements:
Job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, lifting or carrying up to 50 lbs, climbing up to 200 ft., perceiving color differences, required to wear personal protective equipment as needed and a respirator in emergency situations (beards are not permitted), ability to operate and drive all assigned company vehicles at company standard insurance rates is essential, valid State driver's license and proof of insurance required. Job conditions may require making precise hand and finger movements, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching or grasping, and working in confined spaces as permitted.
