Position Summary
The Piping / Mechanical QA will support the Projects Group at the Refinery by providing quality assurance oversight on piping and mechanical work associated with capital projects and turnarounds. This role ensures compliance with refinery standards, applicable codes, and project specifications. The QA will actively monitor contractor performance, verify documentation, and support project teams in driving safe, efficient, and high-quality project execution.

Key Responsibilities
*    Perform quality assurance inspections and oversight on piping, welding, and mechanical activities for capital and turnaround projects.
*    Verify that all work meets applicable codes (ASME, API, etc.), project specifications, and standards.
*    Review and approve contractor quality documentation, including ITPs (Inspection & Test Plans), weld maps, WPS/PQRs, material certifications, and test reports.
*    Conduct field walkdowns and inspections to ensure proper installation, fit-up, and alignment of piping and mechanical systems.
*    Witness pressure testing, bolt torqueing, and other critical QA/QC hold points as required.
*    Monitor contractor quality control teams and provide feedback to ensure compliance.
*    Track and resolve non-conformance reports (NCRs) and punch list items.
*    Work closely with project engineers, construction supervisors, and contractors to support safe and timely project delivery.
*    Ensure accurate turnover documentation packages are prepared and submitted.
*    Support audits and provide input to continuous improvement initiatives for QA/QC practices.

Qualifications
*    8+ years of piping/mechanical QA/QC experience in refining, petrochemical, or heavy industrial projects.
*    Strong knowledge of ASME B31.3, API standards, and refinery mechanical codes.
*    Experience with welding processes, procedures, and documentation.
*    Familiarity with pressure testing, hydrostatic testing, and bolted joint assembly.
*    Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, isometrics, and construction drawings.
*    Strong communication skills and ability to interface with contractors, engineers, and site leadership.
*    Prior refinery or large capital project experience required; refinery experience preferred.
*    Certifications (CWI, API 570/510, or equivalent) strongly preferred.
