Principal Responsibilities:
 
  • Overhauls, repairs and tests high‐pressure boilers, steam and gas turbines, diesels, cooling towers, air compressors, pumps and associated and auxiliary equipment. Inspects and repairs the steam, condensate, chilled water, city water and sewer systems throughout the outlying distribution system.
  • Reads, understands, uses, and updates shop prints and specifications and refers to
  • manufacturer's manuals for servicing and installation of equipment and distribution systems.
  • Determines the manpower and material requirements and the means and methods to be used in accomplishing work assignments and recommends changes.
  • Prepares and paints surfaces and maintains cleanliness of work areas.
  • Uses tools and test equipment of the trade.
  • Maintains spare parts inventory and orders parts as required.
  • Coordinates with Watch Engineer when locking and tagging plants systems.
  • Performs related duties as required or assigned.
  • Observes safety standards and practices.
  • Observes and assists outside contractors for compliance with Yale standards.
  • Trains new hires/transferees regarding proper maintenance and safety standards and practices.
  • Employees in this classification are subject to emergency call back procedures twenty-four (24) hours a day, as may be required in order to maintain continuous operation of a facility.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
 
Required Skills and Abilities:
 
Ability to read, write and follow written and verbal instructions.
 
Required Education and Experience:
 
1.   Must have at least four (4) years of power plant mechanic experience or equivalent.
2.   High School diploma or equivalent.
 
Required Licenses or Certifications:
 
1. Must have a S2 license.
2. Must hold valid Driver's License.
3. OSHA 10 Certificate.
