About the Role
The Procurement Specialist plays a key role in supporting business and operational objectives by developing and executing effective sourcing strategies. This position works closely with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and cross‑functional teams to ensure reliable supply, cost optimization, and strong supplier performance across goods and services.
The role requires advanced procurement knowledge, strong commercial judgment, and the ability to influence outcomes in complex sourcing and negotiation environments.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing & Supply Management
• Collaborate with business leaders, operations, and supply chain teams to assess needs and support the development of sourcing strategies and tactical plans
• Develop a strong understanding of supply chain planning to ensure materials and services are delivered in the right quantities and at the right time
• Execute negotiation strategies that result in effective contracts aligned with business objectives
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies and procure‑to‑pay processes
Cost & Value Optimization
• Manage assigned spend categories and contracts to deliver measurable financial improvements
• Drive cost reduction initiatives through spend analysis, pricing strategies, total cost of ownership (TCO), demand management, and payment term optimization
• Work with internal teams to continuously review inventory levels and challenge safety stock assumptions
Supplier Performance & Market Intelligence
• Actively manage supplier relationships and performance
• Engage suppliers to understand market conditions, lead times, and cost drivers
• Identify and develop new and competitive sources of supply
• Monitor and communicate external market trends that impact pricing and availability
Commercial & Business Support
• Provide procurement input for budgeting, planning, and special projects
• Support day‑to‑day procurement activities and transactional requirements
• Ensure sourcing requirements are met in a timely and cost‑effective manner
Leadership & Collaboration
• Serve as a procurement representative on cross‑functional teams and committees
• Mentor and support less experienced procurement or supply chain team members
• Promote safety, quality, and compliance standards within procurement activities
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and process enhancements
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
• Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, procurement, or a related field
o Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
• Minimum of 5 years of procurement and supply chain experience
• Commercial and contract negotiation experience required
• Experience in industrial, manufacturing, or chemical environments preferred
Skills & Competencies
• Strong knowledge of goods and services markets
• Experience with strategic sourcing and supplier relationship management
• Contract negotiation and execution expertise
• Ability to analyze market trends and cost drivers
• Strong communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills
• Proficiency with standard business software (e.g., Word, Excel); ERP experience preferred
• Understanding of continuous improvement and process optimization concepts
