Project Controls Specialist 


Position Overview:
The Company is a fully integrated, sustainable energy services provider with operations in 8 cities across the United States and growing. In each community, the company operates highly efficient thermal energy plants that distribute steam, hot water and / or chilled water to customer buildings. The Project Controls Specialist will be responsible for supporting Project Managers in the U.S. Project Management Office by providing analytical, logistical, and administrative support to specific utilities projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the review of contracts for clarity and identify contract specific requirements that must be met.
  • Keep project manager informed of related project financial status and identify potential problems as well as improvements. This should be on a formal and informal basis.
  • Develop and maintain current, accurate project schedules and status with sufficient detail for given project.
  • Assist in development of project work breakdown structure appropriate for project.
  • Assist in development of project cost estimates and budget information.
  • Assist in identification of project resource needs (people, materials, equipment).
  • Participate in ongoing identification and documentation of lessons learned.
  • Conduct work activities in accordance with project management policies and procedures.
  • Assist in initiation and maintenance of accurate project setup.
  • Assist in establishing/maintaining change control and risk management processes.
  • Work effectively in a team environment.
  • Assist in establishing project reporting and status for project team, management and customer representatives.
  • Assist in tracking and trending project status; anticipate problems and advise team; perform variance, earned value, and critical path analyses.
  • Assist in development of presentations for community outreach, management team as well as teammates.
  • Assist in the invoicing process to ensure timely issuance and payment of invoices.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Project controls experience including planning, scheduling, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and estimating.
  • Experience with project estimating, budgeting, planning, task duration scheduling, and the Work Breakdown Structure.
  • Experience with project accounting practices and financial systems (e.g. - revenue recognition, invoicing and cash flow, system input and reporting requirements related to projects).
  • Experience doing cost loaded schedules and earned value progress.
  • Experience with project control for various contract types; time and materials, fixed-price, cost plus, and design-build.
  • Experience with diversified project environment.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain external and internal cost reports, cash flows and forecasts.
