Our client was founded with the principle that renewable fuels should come from non-food based sources that are environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable. 
The Company is upgrading and modifying an existing oil refinery to produce renewable diesel fuel, propane, and naphtha from sustainable low carbon feedstocks.
 
They are looking for a Project Planner/Scheduler report to help drive operational excellence throughout our facilities. The Planner/Scheduler position reports directly to the Project Controls Manager and will develop, monitor, analyze, and update integrated project plans and schedules so that projects can be executed in the most efficient manner possible. The Planner/Scheduler position is intended for an individual with experience and subject matter knowledge in the scheduling/planning of large capital expense and maintenance upgrade projects - gained either through prior work experience or a combination of college/technical training and work experience.   The Project Planner/Scheduler will utilize Project Management and Earned Value Management methodologies and be responsible for the in-depth review, analysis, and reporting of project schedule and risk throughout the project lifecycle at the renewable fuels refinery in Bakersfield, CA.  
 
The Project Planner/Scheduler is responsible for preparing baseline schedules and schedule basis documents for approval by the project teams, assess impacts to the critical path and near-critical activities and report to the project team, monitor schedule deviations and variances and assist in the developing alternate methods for corrective action, prepare and provide schedule progress reports, trending charts and schedule analysis on a periodic basis, maintain record of scope changes, trends and variances that potentially affect schedule performance, assure credibility of the information contained in the schedule, and review schedules with project team members on a regular basis to ensure that accurate and timely data is incorporated in the schedule. 
 
The Project Planner/Scheduler is also responsible to:
  • Analyze schedules and change orders from Contractors and Subcontractors for schedule impacts.  
  • Verify schedule integrity and evaluate logic and float paths. Evaluate activity sequences for constructability. Identify and resolve schedule conflicts.
  • Make recommendations to manage float and (re)sequence activities (if required) to achieve project milestone dates and interim target completion dates. 
  • Coordinate with the project team to define activities and associated scope, activity durations, logic, and interface between activities and resource loading activities. Resource load schedules as required by the project team.
  • Perform jobsite walks to verify physical progress of scheduled activities.
  • Facilitate project scheduling meetings and/or interactive planning meetings as required by the project team.
  • Track and update schedules, communicate updates to Stakeholders, provide project reports, and integrate Field Change Requests into schedule updates 
  • Provide Schedule Look-Ahead, man-power forecasts and resource histograms. 
  • Develop and sustain open and productive relationships with key project, maintenance, and operational personnel
  • Work under the Project Controls Manager to develop dashboards to communicate cost and schedule performance to the project team in real time.
  • Work under the Project Controls Manager to implement a standardized suite of cost and schedule reports that enable program management to make data driven decisions.
  • Prepare complex monthly project performance analysis, schedule status reports, and any additional project documentation as required through all phases of project lifecycle.
  • Support the implementation of change management practices and appropriately capture associated cost and schedule activities and prepare required supporting documentation.
  • Interface with designated management and client counterparts for specific planning and schedule tasks/cost/earned value presentations including: participating in project meetings, collecting progress data, coordinating the development of monthly forecast, and revising project plans.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required experience:
  • 2-5 years of experience as a planner/scheduler on facilities capital projects with demonstrated ability in the use of modern planning and scheduling principles, methodologies, techniques and tools
  • Earned value management knowledge and experience in interpretation, execution, and application of project management theories, principles, and techniques for cost and schedule systems
  • Proficiency using Primavera Version 6 and Microsoft Project 
  • Have considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office with extensive experience in advanced Excel functions
  • Ability to effectively communicate project information so that stakeholders are aware of key information and metrics.
  • Self-motivated problem solver with excellent analytical skills
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and accuracy while supporting interruptions in a dynamic working environment
  • Have effective written and verbal communication skills necessary to communicate with multidisciplinary team members, using negotiation skills to influence
 
Must be able to pass all CA safety, drug & alcohol requirements for refinery work

$50- $80/hr DOE. 6 month + project (Per diem available)
