Role Description:
Position performs safety assessment tasks associated with plant operations and mechanical work during construction projects
Job Responsibilities:
- This person will write & issue permits and they will train this person on-site at refinery through their safety department.
- Writing & issuing a site permit instead of a daily task permit.
- Provide third party oversite to a project as far as safety.
- Refinery wants a third-party contractor as part of a safety overseer of the job and this person is responsible for issuing the daily permit for the job.
Act as safety/health resource for the construction project team
Issue Safe Work Permits in non-process
Monitor the implementation of the Safety and Health Plan as well as the Contractor's plans
Assist with the development and implementation of Job Safety Plans
Conduct daily safety audits, inspections, and permit compliance audits
Issue daily safety reports
Attend the daily update meeting to report on all safety and health activities
Locate and determine the adequacy of protection, perform daily inspections of, and work to facilitate the improvement of all eyewash and shower units, potential workplace hazards, congested locations, fire protection, access into areas for emergency response, confined space entry jobs, etc.
Assist unit evacuations
Respond to and coordinate injury, incident, and evacuation situations
Maintain and have readily available all safety records including safety meeting sign in sheets, injury and incident reports, turnaround and unit orientation training, safety deviations, etc.
Schedule and facilitate safety meetings
Conduct injury/incident notification according to construction procedures
Assist with injuring management
Maintain a strong field presence
Qualifications & Skills for Success:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in working turnarounds or projects refining/chemical processing facilities (preferred)
Minimum of 5 years working in a safety position in field locations (preferred)
