The Reliability Engineer will have primary responsibility for identification, development, and implementation of reliability initiatives focused on driving the long-term reliability of the La Porte area facilities. The successful candidate will find opportunities through in-depth review of operating and maintenance performance data of the La Porte facilities along with similar equipment throughout the client's fleet. The candidate will interface closely with discipline-specific engineers, maintenance and operations personnel, and business leads to develop the cost-benefit case to determine which ideas warrant implementation. The Reliability Engineer will handle the execution of small to medium sized projects and will coordinate with Project Engineering resources to facilitate the execution of more complex projects.


The position requires an individual with the ability to understand and evaluate complex process and equipment related performance. The successful candidate will have a track record of working effectively with a diverse group of Engineers, Technicians, and Business personnel.

The Reliability Engineer will focus initially on the reliability of the CO supply, but over time will grow the span of responsibilities to support the entire La Porte Area and beyond.

The Reliability Engineer will collaborate with the La Porte Area Manager with a dotted line to the Americas Reliability Manager.


Responsibilities Include:

  • Demonstrated commitment to safety in all aspects of the job.
  • Evaluation of historical causes of production deficiencies and development of actions to address.
  • Aged asset life extension and Failure Mode and Effect Analyses (FMEA) to recommend proactive investment to maintain equipment performance.
  • Identification of long lead items and obsolescence items to ensure our sparing philosophy adequately supports our reliability goals.
  • Prioritizing and directing the implementation of reliability improvement initiatives, working in conjunction with our Operations, Maintenance, Business, and Engineering teams.
  • Participate in and lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) events to inject a long-term reliability view into those events.
  • Develop tools and work processes to bring transparency to metrics related to equipment reliability with a goal of enabling proactive interventions to prevent under-performance.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical or Chemical preferred) with a minimum of 3-6 years' experience in maintenance, engineering, and/or operations roles. Preferably strong rotating equipment experience.
  • Experience working in an industrial gas or similar production setting.
  • Proficient with processes and software tools that aid the evaluation and communication of performance initiatives, including RCA and FMEA software, process trending software, Microsoft Office Products, SAP and Qlik tools.
  • Ability to work independently as well as to lead and participate on cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, drive issues to completion, and obtain results.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to inform and influence key partners on complex issues.
