Reliability Instrument Engineer

PTS Advance has an opening for a Refining Reliability Instrument Engineer. 

This position includes maintenance support, troubleshooting existing issues, budgeting for planned equipment replacements, implementing new solutions and creating new reliability programs targeting longer run-times, higher MTBF and safer operations. 

The successful candidate will be someone who has experience with refinery and/or petrochemical applications that include process measurement and control, safety instrumented system (SIS) design and implementation, management of change (MOC) processes, and industry standards (ANSI, NFPA, API, ISA, NEMA, etc.). 

 

Hours:

9/80's or 5/40's, including supporting on-call 4-6 weeks per year and supporting major Turnaround (TAR) as needed. Periodic overtime work, including weekends may be needed, as required. 

 

Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline. 
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in operations, maintenance or Engineering in the refining, petrochemical or other heavy related industry.
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Proficient at Microsoft: Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Ability to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery (respirator), be able to physically perform all tasks in the field.
  • Current valid driver's license.
  • Legally authorized to work in the US without the need for future VISA sponsorship.
  • Ability to obtain a TWIC Card.

 

 

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience as an Instrumentation Engineer in the refining, petrochemical or other heavy related industry preferred.
  • Experience with process measurement and control, instrument equipment, safety instrumented system (SIS) design, electrical area classification, management of change (MOC) processes, and industry standards (NFPA, ISA, IEEE, NEMA, API, etc.) is preferred.
  • Experience in the use of Instrument management software such Intergraph SI (Smart Instrumentation) is preferred. 
  • Familiarity with vendor troubleshooting software from Emerson, GE Baker Hughes, Vega etc. is preferred.
