Our client is a global manufacturer and marketer of differentiated and specialty chemicals. They operate more than 60 manufacturing, R&D and operations facilities in approximately 30 countries and employ approximately 7,000 associates within their continuing operations.


A fantastic opportunity exists for a Sales & Operations Planning Manager (SOPM) supporting one of the specialty chemicals Supply Chain Division located in Geismar, LA. This position will report to the relevant Supply Chain Director of the Americas.


Job Scope

The SOPM will be a liaison between our business partners, customers, and employees in communicating pertinent information accurately and expeditiously to operate the department/business efficiently and effectively. The incumbent will also develop employee relations, building trust and earning respect by recognizing employee talents/contributions and demonstrating an attitude of impartiality and consideration.


The incumbent must maintain effective and timely communications between cross-functional roles within Finance, Commercial, Supply Chain, Technical, Production, Shared Services, Quality Assurance, and Product Development.


As the Sales & Operations Planning Manager you will be accountable for:


  • Leading, inspiring, and building the capabilities of the S&OP team members
  • Weekly sales and inventory reporting for manufacturing and distribution sites
  • Monthly regional and global Sales & Operations facilitation and reporting
  • Monitoring progress and driving appropriate accountability for completion of all on-going projects
  • Monthly Performance Reporting
  • ISO Compliance
  • Monthly Closing Activities
  • New Product Introduction Approval
  • Employee Performance Assessments
  • Budget Performance - $1.2mm budget
  • Supporting the Commercial organization
  • 600+ Customer Ship To accounts
  • 24,000+ orders/shipments annually
  • 30 Distribution sites and associated inventory
  • 17 Product streams with 600+ active product codes
  • 2.5 billion pounds finished product shipments annually


Required Qualifications:


You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.


The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work in the United States.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Supply Chain, or other relevant technical field
  • 5-10 years experience in supply chain planning
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Experience with SAP
  • Significant understanding of sales and operations planning processes
  • Be highly adaptable, positive, and flexible
  • Be highly detail oriented
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Master's in Business Administration or Supply Chain
  • Experience in coaching and capability development
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing assets/strategies
  • Know how to manage up in the organization
