Senior Civil/Structural Engineer

Location: Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee the design and construction supervision of various civil and structural engineering projects, ensuring adherence to engineering principles and best practices.
  • Utilize computer-assisted engineering and design tools to develop and finalize building designs from concept to completion.
  • Conduct a wide range of engineering calculations, including traditional methods and Finite Element Analysis (FEA), to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
  • Generate detailed layout plans, foundation designs, steelwork details, and architectural features.
  • Assist in the preparation and approval of design documents, ensuring compliance with established procedures, processes, and design requirements.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to resolve equipment and system issues, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors.
  • Ensure safety standards are integrated into equipment design and specifications, promoting a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Participate in project-based work, coordinating design integration across multiple disciplines.
  • Conduct thorough checks to verify the accuracy of design documents and media.
  • Adhere to project timelines, taking corrective actions to address delays as needed.
  • Stay updated on environmental health and safety policies and procedures, attending meetings as required.
  • Recommend innovative solutions to improve performance, simplify design, and reduce costs.
  • Conduct independent research, reviews, and analyses to support plant changes and modifications.
  • Support the installation and testing of site systems and components.
  • Assist in the preparation of cost estimates for engineering services and manage work assignments to meet project schedules and budgets.
  • Provide leadership and direction to junior staff, serving as a top-level contributor and specialist.
  • Act as Engineering Manager for designated projects.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills, with experience presenting design concepts to various stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in FEA, civil design software, and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong understanding of industry codes, regulations, and project management principles.
  • Master's degree in civil engineering or related field required.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Prior experience in nuclear power plants is preferred. #IND1
