Overview:
The Senior Quality Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and leading a robust Quality Assurance (QA) system to ensure that manufacturing processes consistently produce products meeting AS9100 standards and the guidelines outlined in the Quality Assurance Manual. This role is pivotal as a change agent and operates with minimal supervision, focusing on strategy development, prioritization, and execution within the Quality Assurance scope.

This role is pivotal as a change agent and operates with minimal supervision, focusing on strategy development, prioritization, and execution within the Quality Assurance scope.
Key Responsibilities:
- Department Leadership:
- Manage the Quality Assurance team by supervising, evaluating, hiring, training, and adjusting compensation for QA staff.
- Plan and oversee inspection, lab, and testing schedules to optimize department efficiency and effectiveness.
- Quality Standards Interpretation & Compliance:
- Translate customer, corporate, and divisional quality standards for plant personnel.
- Develop and update site procedures to align with the division's Quality Assurance Manual.
- Champion preventive quality systems and foster a culture of proactive quality assurance.
- Supplier & Material Quality Control:
- Establish and enforce inspection, disposition, and record retention procedures for incoming materials and components.
- Review supplier-related quality issues, offering surveillance support as necessary.
- Corrective Action & Problem Solving:
- Actively participate in corrective action processes, identifying root causes of non-conformance, and overseeing cost measurement for non-conformance.
- Lead management meetings to discuss corrective actions and quality system improvements, and publish reports identifying quality trends.
- Customer & Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner with Customers, Engineering, and Operations to define requirements, facilitate product realization, and drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes and systems.
- Gage Calibration & Compliance:
- Oversee the calibration of inspection, gauging, and process instruments, ensuring compliance with internal protocols.
- Collaborate with vendors to enhance inspection methods and equipment.
- Audit & Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to Nadcap, AS9100, and other industry regulations, coordinating and conducting audits as necessary.
- Lead internal audit processes and related corrective actions, promoting comprehensive preventive quality training across the organization.
- Relationship Building & Team Development:
- Build strong relationships across organizational levels, utilizing high-level communication and influence skills to drive change.
- Mentor, coach, and develop a high-performance team, fostering a motivating and supportive environment conducive to achieving team success.
- Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance:
- Promote and practice safe working methods that prioritize the health of individuals and environmental protection.
Qualifications:
- Experience and Background:
- Proven experience in problem-solving with production teams and strong skills in data analysis and statistical/process improvement tools.
- Expertise in fastener testing equipment, metallurgical evaluation procedures, and mechanical inspection tools.
- Background in Aerospace Quality Systems or a similar manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
- Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 7 years in preventive Quality Systems or equivalent military experience.
- At least 3 years of supervisory experience overseeing Quality Systems.
- Authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship not available.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Over 15 years of experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent military experience.
- ASQ Certifications (CQE, CQM, CRE, or CSSBB) are preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years working with NADCAP standards.
- At least 5 years of supervisory experience overseeing Quality Systems.
- Knowledge of Aerospace product/process specifications (AMS, ASTM, etc.) and a strong understanding of quality principles (SPC, TQM, MRB, etc.).
