Assistant Civil Designer

Job Summary:

We are seeking an Assistant Civil Designer to support various stages of civil engineering projects, including planning, proposal development, site assessments, technical analysis, report creation, specification drafting, and construction documentation. This role will contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality designs and environmental plans.


This is a 100% in office position

Key Responsibilities:

 Assist in designing civil infrastructure projects, including land development, site planning, roadway design, stormwater management systems, utility layouts (water and sanitary sewer), sediment and erosion control, traffic control, and airport or facility design.


Support the creation of technical drawings, including layout development, problem-solving, and calculations for complex and varied projects.

Utilize established methods and industry standards to contribute to civil design tasks such as sequencing drawings, system sizing, and refining preliminary sketches.


Prepare and revise initial project designs, incorporating markups and modifications.


Analyze survey reports, maps, geotechnical data, and other documentation to assist in project planning and design.


Apply relevant codes and specifications to ensure compliance with design requirements.


Review and finalize design documents within defined budgets, timelines, and scopes.


Perform volume calculations for earthwork, dredging, and site grading operations.


Integrate project schedules, budgets, and client requirements into civil design plans.


Maintain organized records of project drawings, revisions, and related documentation.


Carry out additional tasks as needed while adhering to company policies and industry standards.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in drafting technology or a related field with at least two years of relevant experience OR an Associate's degree with three years of relevant experience OR four years of progressive design and detailing experience in civil engineering projects.


Familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and Excel for developing design deliverables.


Foundational knowledge of civil engineering principles, calculations, and design methodologies.


Understanding of civil engineering theories and practices, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines and use industry-specific design software.


Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with project managers, engineers, and designers in a multidisciplinary team environment.


Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong problem-solving abilities, analytical skills, and keen attention to detail.
