Position Summary:
The Assistant Geologist will support a variety of environmental tasks for projects serving federal, state, local, and commercial clients. Responsibilities include fieldwork, investigations, data analysis, and report writing.
The Assistant Geologist will support a variety of environmental tasks for projects serving federal, state, local, and commercial clients. Responsibilities include fieldwork, investigations, data analysis, and report writing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform field activities such as soil logging, air monitoring during investigations and remediation, groundwater monitoring well installation, and collecting soil and groundwater samples for laboratory testing.
- Assist in interpreting soil and groundwater data, developing sampling plans, and compiling data for soil, air, and groundwater analysis.
- Participate in proposal and report writing for environmental projects.
- Coordinate and schedule subcontractors for field investigations and assist with site remediation planning and execution.
- Manage laboratory analysis for the evaluation of samples, ensuring proper identification and compliance with project requirements.
- Conduct on-site monitoring to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local permit requirements during project construction.
- Adhere to all company policies and standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Geology or a related Environmental field is required.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 is strongly preferred.
- Previous internship experience in environmental consulting, particularly in hazardous site assessment (e.g., Phase I, Phase II, and remediation), is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of geological techniques, the Unified Soil Classification System, glacial deposits, hydrogeology, and groundwater sampling.
- Familiarity with OSHA, CERCLA, and remedial design.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required; experience with ArcGIS, RockWare, and Adobe Illustrator is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work methodically and analytically in problem-solving situations, with strong attention to detail and critical thinking.
- Demonstrated leadership, team-building, and collaboration skills.
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving standards as per the Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training is preferred.
- Involvement in campus or community activities is a plus.
- Must be legally authorized to work permanently in the country where this position is located.
