Our client, a leading organization in the industrial and manufacturing sector, is seeking a Buyer to support procurement and sourcing operations at their Plaquemine facility. This role plays a vital part in ensuring timely and cost-effective purchasing of materials, equipment, and services to maintain seamless plant operations.
Responsibilities:
Purchase and expedite delivery of raw materials, equipment, spare parts, supplies, and services to support ongoing operations.
Negotiate contracts and purchase agreements under management direction for materials, services, and new project requirements.
Collaborate with internal departments to fulfill purchasing needs and provide timely updates on order status.
Conduct supplier audits, build and manage vendor relationships, and ensure compliance with company standards.
Prepare and analyze RFQs; review purchase orders and requisitions for accuracy and completeness.
Maintain organized purchasing records and support documentation retrieval.
Monitor market trends and apply insights to strategic sourcing and cost-saving initiatives.
Ensure vendor contracts are accurate and compliant with company policies.
Participate in meetings and assist with other procurement-related activities as needed.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Primarily office-based role with occasional plant visits
May involve sitting for extended periods and occasional standing, walking, bending, or climbing stairs
Use of PPE required in designated plant areas
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Strong organizational, communication, and negotiation skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail
Flexibility to adapt to changing business needs and work collaboratively across departments
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field
3+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain roles
