Chemist II
We need a Chemist II for the Los Angeles area to join the team.
Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of the use of laboratory instruments such as Gas Chromatograph, Mass spectrometer and inductive Coupled Plasma.
- Responsible for calibration and routine maintenance of instruments
- Be able to perform annual Proficiency Testing Study (PT) under general supervision
- Shall be knowledgeable and comfortable with conducting all wet chemistry analysis and instruments for effluent discharge water
- Conduct development and set up of the laboratory test methods set forth by EPA SW-846, Standard Method (SM) and American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM)
- Perform all incoming sample profiling for facility.
- Responsible for conducting analysis of incoming waste antifreeze and outgoing glycol related finished products.
- Familiar with OSHA safety guidelines.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in chemistry or related science is required.
- A minimum of 2-4 years laboratory experience/training required.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- 24 HOUR HAZWOPER TRAINING, 8 HOUR ANNUAL REFRESHER HAZWOPER TRAINING or acquire during the first 6 months of hire.
Physical Demands:
- Employee is required to stand for extended period and occasionally walk; sit; bend; balance and stoop, kneel or crouch
- Employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Compensation: $27-$30 hour with great bonus, full benefits, dental 401k matching
