Construction Manager
Location: Flexible - Houston TX, Geismar LA, or Long Beach, CA
Travel: 25-45%
Start Date: Now - March 2023 and possibility of another TAR after
Schedule: 40 hours per week prior to turnaround execution, OT as required and during turnaround (7/12s) with fatigue days every 14 days. Initial turnaround would be in Martinez, CA starting January, 17 for 35 days, start day and duration subject to change.
Site entry requirements include TWIC with pin.
Experience: Looking for someone with turnaround/large project management experience but also willing to collaborate and support needs for our outage process.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to read and understand P&IDs, ISO's, piping isometrics, fixed equipment design packages, and pipe specs.
- Proficient in the use of computers and business software, including Microsoft (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook) OneNote, SAP, Primavera P6.
- Experience with a variety of heavy equipment, especially cranes, preferred.
- Experience with piping design and understanding of ASME B31.1 and ASME B31.3
- 10+ years' experience in maintenance and/or engineering disciplines, preferably with experience in industrial outages, exchangers, pumps, hydrotesting and pipe fabrication.
- Technical, Engineering, or Construction Management degree a plus, but not required.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead assigned portion of outage scope through planning and construction.
- The successful execution of all the site construction works in accordance with the project schedule, cost and other KPIs.
- Create detailed planning activities in P6 for each work order utilizing planning templates as applicable.
- Activities include individual tasks, manpower, durations, and assigned discipline.
- Generate mechanical job packages if required, including pictures, P&IDs, BOMs, tools, safe work procedures, applicable standards, QC requirements, etc.
- Provide daily schedule updates during outage execution.
- Maintain a strong and effective professional working relationship with the AP Project Management, Client, interfacing EPC's, sub-contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Provide leadership to ensure prompt prioritization and coordination of all unforeseen issues at the site, escalating to the Project Manager and Senior Project Manager as required.
- Support Management of Change process, recognizing plant changes and following through on all documentation and recommendations in a timely manner.
- Support and promote the implementation of the Project Safety, Security and Quality plans.
- Support and promote the implementation of the Project Execution Plan.
- Provide contractor field management in all outage phases for assigned contractors, including safety, timesheet verification, field oversight, change orders, and QC verification.
- Uphold and communicate high standards of housekeeping in assigned areas and on all job sites. Conduct frequent formal housekeeping inspections of plant areas.
- Complete close out and documentation as required by Air Products standards and procedures.
- Overall responsibility for the construction work.
- Overall responsibility for safety on the constructions site.
PERFORMANCE STANDARD:
- Willing to work a wide variety of scheduled days and hours, including night shift, following strict fatigue management guidelines.
- Based out of Geismar, LA office, travel may be required as much as 25-45% depending on projects. Primary focus will be southeastern LA (BR - NOLA east); however, turnarounds may be out of region and/or international (Canada, Trinidad), i.e. 'Where ever needed'
- Ability to work without close supervision.
