Construction Manager
Location: Riegelwood, NC
Pay Range: $75.00-$85.00
- Per diem is offered for qualifying candidates
Schedule: Monday-Friday, will be a 40-50 hour work week.
Responsibilities:
- Work with construction management and project management team to ensure that all construction work is done safely and in full compliance with the project-specific procedures for construction and issued for construction drawings
- Serve as the point of contact for construction
- Attend all construction review meetings
- Participate in model and constructability reviews
- Work with team to assess the progress of construction relative to the project schedule
- Provide input into the weekly and monthly status up-dates
- Help review / provide input into Request for Information (RFI's) and Field Change Orders (FCO)
- Identify and evaluate potential risks during the construction phase. Working with the project team, create a mitigation plan for each risk identified
- Reviews and approves the contractor's execution plan for high risk field activities
- Facilitates the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) prior to field mobilization
- Facilitates the RFI process
- Ensures that daily work permits are issued
- Ensures that a daily field report is created and distributed appropriately
- Provide a record of any occurrence of work that might result in a claim
- Advocate during disputes, disagreements, modifications, or change orders.
- Review payment applications, final invoices, and retention payments
- Work with Project team to transfer ownership to the site including review of all close out documentation and warranties
- Identify and resolve issues in a timely manner
- Help evaluate, challenge, and control change requests from all sources
- Help prepare and present progress, status reports, and presentations
- Lead the construction field oversight of equipment installation and facility construction.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Construction Management preferred
- Preferred: Additional degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- Managed construction in pulp and paper preferred, but will consider the experience in chemical plants or refineries
- 10 plus years of progressive responsibility managing construction functions on projects
- Experience in engineering design, construction, and start-up phases of a project
- Experience with heavy industrial construction in both chemical and power sectors
