PTS Advance is seeking a QA/QC Supervisor for our Clients office in San Francisco bay area.   This postion will lead the QA/QC Project Team, setting clear expectations and actively coaching and developing direct reports.  CWI Certification REQUIRED.
Ensuring that the First-in Inspection process effectively reduces risk and minimizes cost due to fabrication and installation errors, promote resolution of Quality issues with Project Team, and monitor all quality issues to ensure systematic problems are addressed.
Actively audit the execution of the Project Specific Quality Control Plan to ensure that all required commitments are adhered to and meet the Standard Operating Procedures.
Proactively work with the Project Management Team to support the success of the project and provide an avenue for input into quality requirement changes.

  • Location: San Leandro, CA.
  • Pay rate: $60-$65 hr. DOE
  • Direct hire - Local candidates, no relocation
  • Hours: M-F start time 6:00 am and 7:00 am - 5/8's
  • Start date: ASAP
Overiew:
  • Supervises: Quality Control Inspectors
  • Plans and conducts the analysis, inspection, design, test, and/or integration to assure the quality of assigned product or component.
  • Performs quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records.
  • Applies statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes.
  • Engage with the General Contractor's Quality Assurance Manager for inspection planning, project compliance, non-conformance management, quality audits.
  • Provide project quality expectations to new inspectors.
  • Attend weekly project update meetings with the project group including upcoming activities, status and deadlines.
  • Reviews all purchased products or components and provides input to the decision of whether to accept the product and future purchases from the vendor.
  • Documents data obtained during all quality assurance activities, consistent with company policies and procedures.
  • Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process improvements to management.
  • Prepares reports to communicate involvement and results of quality assurance activities.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry quality assurance codes and standards.
  • Other duties may be assigned by the management team.
  • Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities.
  • Prepares and presents technical and program information to team members and management.
  • Directs technical and administrative workers engaged in quality assurance activities.


Requirements:
  • Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; with 10 years of overall experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Seeking at least 8 years of experience in Quality Control focused on ASME B31 piping codes, industrial and commercial construction, fabrication, welding, non-destructive testing, and/or other similar fields.
  • Current certification in accordance with AWS QC-1 as a Senior Certified Welding Inspector (SCWI), Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), and /or ICC Mechanical - Commercial Certification preferred
  • At least 3 years of experience leading and managing direct reports.
  • Proficient understanding of ASME Section IX BP&V Code and experience creating and reviewing welding procedures and welder or brazer qualifications.
  • Ability to read, write, and problem solve, make quick decisions, interpret data and analyze results; effective written and verbal communication is essential. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Excellent time management and written and spoken communication skills, highly professional, organized, and trustworthy team player.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Regular & routine attendance.
