Our client is a Global supply chain company providing transportation, logistics, materials handling, and other industrial services.  They are looking for a Construction Manager to support multiple projects across the US. The position could be based anywhere in the US but will require regular travelling to multiple sites.

 

This is a long-term opportunity with a very competitive package.

 

Major Purpose:

Manage internal and external resources as necessary to procure and construct Industrial Capital Projects on-time and on-budget that meet commercial, operational, and customer objectives. 

 

* This position requires over 70% travel on an ongoing basis, which is dependent upon project needs. Travel is typically only during the week.

 

 Responsibilities / Job Duties: 

  • Take direction and work closely with the Director, Capital Projects to achieve company project objectives
  • Participate in project and business development - conceptual designs, cost estimates, strategy, etc.
  • Deliver high quality projects on-time and on-budget
  • Lead internal and external engineering, procurement, and construction resources
  • Ensure designs meet applicable building codes, safety, operational, and commercial objectives
  • Manage resources necessary to obtain all applicable permits.
  • Assist in developing project schedules and milestones.
  • Assistance in Estimating budgets for jobs
  • Assist in Selecting Contractors and Manage contractors
  • Control project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and plan and schedule changes; recommending actions 
  • Control project costs by approving expenditures; reviewing bids from contractors
  • Maintain project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems
  • Manage sub-contractors on a day-to-day level at work site(s)
  • Manage the general job site responsibilities
  • Read and interpret plans, blueprints and specifications
  • Provide technical support for internal operations
  • Identify and prioritize critical tasks
  • Adjust and adapt to shifting priorities 
  • Apply strong change management practices 
  • Deliver reports including (daily and weekly summaries, JSH, Site training)
  • Conduct technical studies and research as necessary
  • Perform constructability assessments and other spot engineering studies
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules and ensuring regulatory procedures are implemented and followed
  • Maintain product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations
  • Represent the company in all interactions (customer, contractor, community, etc.)

 

Requirements/Qualifications: 

  • Experienced in the development of capital budgets, schedules, and work breakdown structures
  • Experience with industrial applications and industrial trades (piping, steel, concrete, etc)
  • Work effectively in team and independent environments
  • Strong problem solving, communication and negotiating experience
  • Effectively communicate technical information to non-technical audiences
  • Customer-centered philosophy and approach with a sense of urgency for customer needs.
  • Must be drug free and able to pass a criminal background check
  • Willingness to participate in an employee based safety program and contribute to the company's culture of Safety
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English

 

Education/Experience:

  • BS/BA Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent work experience required
  • Minimum 7+ years of significant construction management experience ($5M +)
  • Familiarity with processes and operational practices of heavy industries such as rail, transportation, power, mining, refineries, mineral processing, etc.
  • Experience and familiarity with materials handling is a strong plus
  • Committed to see that the job gets done correctly and by the correct means
  • Enthusiasm and optimism in a construction environment - must exhibit a 'positive attitude'
  • Ability to organize and prioritize complex and competing priorities
  • Ability to obtain TWIC, BOP(s) as required

 

Physical/Travel Requirements:

  • This position is based out of our Service and Support Center, which is a professional office environment.
  • Site visits (industrial in nature and require walking, climbing, and other similar activities) are frequent
  • Requires over 70% travel, which is dependent upon project needs. Travel is typically only during the week.

 

Preferred Experience

       Refinery experience is a plus

 

 

Compensation: Rate $75.00 - $85.00 hourly DOE
